Sonic the Hedgehog (IDW Fanfic Series)

Prologue

The sun shines in the world of Sonic the Hedgehog. Flicky birds fly together chirping happily. Flicky critters scatter around in the grass and everyone lives as happy as can be. It's been a few months since Sonic and his friends overcome the last obstacle. Now, you can hear nothing but peace and quiet.

In the cottage in Forest Hill, there lived a hedgehog family whose lives are as normal as usual.

The male young adult happens to be in the darker shade of yellow with his eyes being navy blue. He also has peach muzzle. His two quills are on each side curved upwards and one quill is downward between them. His daily outfit is more of a tuxedo. He wears a white shirt, matching standard gloves, a black coat, matching necktie, pants and leather shoes.

The female young adult happens to be the male's wife. Her quills are in a lighter shade of yellow and it lays up until her waist. Her eyes are light blue. Her muzzle is also peach. Her gloves are yellow-orange while her bracelet wrapped around each wrist is shiny orange. Her daily outfit is a yellow-orange leg-lengthed dress and matching high heels.

A young female hedgehog is obviously their daughter. She's a yellow hedgehog with blue eyes. Her quills have the exact same style as her mother's. Like both her parents, she also has peach muzzle. Her daily and signature outfit is her bubble orange dress with the part on her upper part of her chest being yellow-orange and there's also the same shade at the tips of her dress. She also wears orange high heels. She's even wearing the same type of gloves as her mother except that her gloves are orange while her bracelets are yellow-orange.

A magenta hedgehog is not like the other hedgehogs. She has brown eyes and her quills are tied into a ponytail. Unlike the others, she has dark tan muzzle. Her daily accessory is her raindrop-shaped magenta amulet with silver lining on it. The four studs on the upper part represent the power to communicate with creatures big and small. What no one knows is that it also allows her to read and understand thoughts and feelings, thus seeking souls when needed. Her gloves also happen to be white with the collar being folded. Each color has a dark magenta stripe in the middle. She used to wear her black ragged dress with a white ragged apron and black flats. Now, she's wearing her dark magenta silky dress and purple knee-high boots with a triangular collar which apex points to her knees and lavender soles. Nobody knows where she came from nor why she's different from the others.

Lastly, the magenta hedgehog is friends with the five chao. Two of them are Neutral Chao, the other two are Hero Chao and one is a purple and magenta chao. You can tell by different friendship collars and eyes. One Neutral Chao has a pink friendship collar and has rosy pink eyes. The other one has blue eyes and matching friendship collar with a bowtie. That means the second chao is a boy. The first Hero Chao's eyes are a fur color of the grizzly bear and he has a red friendship collar with a bowtie while the second one has purple eyes and a matching friendship collar. The magenta and purple chao has dark brown eyes and a dark magenta friendship collar.

Right now, they're gathered around the table for breakfast. For each hedgehog, it's Eggs Benedict and for the chao, it's a bowl filled with tropical fruits.
As they're eating breakfast, they're talking about plans for a certain event where they're celebrating a birthday party.

"So, children. How's your birthday plan going?" the male adult asked the yellow and magenta hedgehogs.

"Oh, it's going great, dad! I hope Sonic and his friends will accept our invitations!" answered the yellow hedgehog enthusiastically.

"How about the handsome black and red hedgehog named Shadow? You've always wanna meet him in person."

"Of course! Why wouldn't I? He's so hot and even though he's a hard-to-get guy, I'm gonna do anything in my power to get his attention!" replied the yellow hedgehog sighing dreamily at the last part.

Her parents let out a light chuckle as they continued eating.

A moment later, a chao with a blue collar flew over and whispered to the magenta hedgehog, "Chao -chao-chao."

"Mystico's right, Aleyah. If you wanna win Shadow's heart, you have to earn his respect first," she said to the yellow hedgehog.

"Of course! Every time you see me running to meet him in person, you always told me that a million times!"

"Chao-chao," the chao with a purple collar added.
"And Juniper said earning his trust is not that easy."

Aleyah sighed in a hint of frustration, "I know, Runa. I know. But even so, he's gonna be mine whether you like it or not!"

"I think Runa has a point, darling. If you want to earn his trust, you'll have to respect his privacy. By doing that, you have to be gentle, delicate and well-mannered when talking to him. Then, as you two get along as friends, you'll see what Shadow thinks of you so far. Do you understand?" asked the light yellow hedgehog.

"Yes, mom! Thank you so much for the advice!" replied Aleyah.

"You're welcome, my dear."

With that being said, they continued eating breakfast. In silence.

After doing their morning routine, Runa was in her bedroom having a final look at the birthday planner made by herself and Aleyah when the chao with a pink collar flew over and whispered to her, "Chao-chao."

"I know, Rosy. I know. I wish Aleyah would be less obsessive right now as well, so that she'll have more chance to be with him than she'd ever imagined."

"Chao-chao-chao," the magenta and purple chao told her.

"I'm always doing it every time we see Shadow in person," said Runa as she put the planner down and laid on her bed exhaling deeply. "But every time I do that, she's like... well, a little bit..."

"Chao?"

"Yeah, Shania. She can be a bit selfish when it comes to that."

"Chao-chao-chao. Chao-chao-chao, chao-chao-chao-chao," said the chao with a red collar. Roughly translated, "It's normal to have a crush like this. But when it comes to meeting a crush in person, it's no good at all."

"Obviously, Bearace. I for one, respect Shadow's privacy. I don't why I feel like it's deeper than I imagined."

"Chao-chao-chao," Mystico told her. Roughly translated, "We'll figure something out, Runa."

The other chao nodded in agreement.

Runa rose into her sitting position and gave them a warm smile, "Thanks, guys."

"Chao-chao!" said Bearace, which means, "No prob!"

Then, Runa's eyes landed on the outside world from the window. I hope Aleyah will follow stepmom's advice wholeheartedly, she thought. Even if it means feeling something... strange whenever I think of him.

In Aleyah's room, she was looking at the birthday planner made by herself and Runa as her lips stretched out an evil smirk.

"Once Shadow comes to the party, I'll do anything in my power to get his attention. And no matter what happens and what anyone else says, he'll be mine, mine and MINE ONLY!!! And if any girl can come after him, they have to face my punishment under my wrath!!!"

Then, she let out an evil cackle.

Downstairs in the kitchen-slash-dining-room were their parents readying the decorations and the invitations. The two had heard Aleyah's evil cackle before making a conversation.

"Bruce, are you really sure Aleyah will talk to Shadow with an attitude like this?" the light yellow hedgehog asked him.

"Oh, relax, Pearla! She'll learn her lesson soon! Just wait and see!"

Pearla sighed in concern, "I hope you're right, honey."

"Of course, I'm right! Just think positively! By the way, are the invitations ready?"

"Yes, they are ready," she answered carrying a box of invitations. "I'll send them out right away."

"Alrighty! I'll call the girls to help me with the decorations!"

"Of course," she said nodding in response.

With that being said, Pearla made her way out the cottage door with Bruce opening the door for her. After that, it's time for her to give out the invitations.
