The night fell faster than expected. Calliope sat at the bottom of the tree hiding from the monster. But he never came around to catch her. Maybe he got what he wanted the first night. To make her life a living nightmare. Maybe he was savouring it and going to attach her when she the least expects it. All these grim taught came rushing to her mind but her heart didn't feel it. Her hart remained calm and dazed by the beauty of his eyes changing between bright blue and green. She heard stories of powerful wolves who change the colour of their eyes whenever they take control over their human body and there is no need for them to shift to do so. She was one of these myths.
As her eyes welled up with tears she stood up off of the ground and ran to her cabin.
The night deepened and her wolf stirred leaving her on edge. It was not full moon that was not until end of next week. But the feeling of being on the edge of snapping got her terrified. Deciding it would be safer for everyone if she was back in the deep forest away from all the humans she left forgetting her shoes, keys and phone. Even leaving her door wide open as without thinking she let her wolf takeover her human form running into the woods.
Suddenly voices started to chant in her mind and her world was spinning around unable to understand she ran even further until a light stopped her in her track.
Elder people wearing blood red, floor length cloaks were chanting in old languages as the fire intensified and a presence of the fallen alphas was felt. As the elders said it would. The man was given a silver knife holding it in one of his palms he spoke loud and clear.
"If any of you present have any objection to me Mateo Usoro the son of Mateo Usoro Fallen Alpha of the Moon Goddess Pack taking the title and responsibility for this pack challenge me NOW." His wolf coming to the surface his eyes changing from human green to the ice blue eyes of the supernatural he was.
Silence fell amongst the attendees. He clutched the knife harder and slid the blade on the inside of his other palm. The silver cut through his flesh like the sharpest sushi knife. As he squeezed his palm over the fire and drops of his blood sizzled on the wood the chants picked up growing in strength and volume. With the rest of the pack elders joining in.
He could feel the weight of the pack connections being placed on his shoulders. He could feel the emotions of every single person from his pack close or far. The taught of all the people weighted down on him. His head feeling lighter and his knees giving in. He landed on his knees with his hand still clutching the knife he propped himself up to steady his heart beat. The chants came to a sudden stop as a girl walked into the light on the opposite side of the new alpha struggling to accept the power given. She walked around the fire never leaving her eyes off of the man kneeling in from of the grand fire.
As she stood right in from of him she fell on her knees feeling the weight of his bond. She cupped his face in her palms feeling the current of electricity course from him through her. His neatly unshaved beard that sculpted his face felt rough under her fingers. At once as he met her eyes they went foggy. A gush of wind whirled around coming from nowhere. Her hair wizzing through the air as the alpha found the strength to stand up in unison with his saviour. As they stood up her hands fell from his face to his torso not breaking the eye contact. Everyone was watching in silence as the two came closer with their foreheads almost touching.
A growl escaped his lips with the word 'you're mine'. Their eyes slowly came back to normal and she broke the eye contact looking down at her hands not believing the feelings cursing through her. He kissed the top of her head taking in her scent. Knowing it could be as close as they will ever get.
Their bubble was bursted as one of the elders, the witch, spoke.
"Moon goddess has sent this pack a one of a kind gift. A Luna, as powerful as a witch and with the strength of an Alpha. This pack has been blessed with a perfect duo to lead it into the future." Her words rang in Calliopes ears bouncing around in her mind until the reality hit her again.
She was standing being held in the arms of no other then her creator. The monster who turned her and left never looking back. Now they're supposed to be lovey-dovey and live happily ever after. 'Not in my world' she taught and pushed away, enough to break the moment they were having, from Mateo who put up no resistance.
Their electric connection broke as her fingers no longer touched him. The warmth of his body no longer keeping her safe. The which now spoke to the Alpha. "We can initiate the Luna now as all the elders are here." At the words calliopes head lifted looking with fear at him as he sucked in a breath breaking the eye contact and addressing the witch refusing the Luna initiation. Sensing that if he forced her into yet another life changing decision she might break.
With reluctance he turned towards his pack saying "Let's enjoy the night!" With that one by one the pack members came to the new Alpha paying their respects. Submitting to him, showing their alliance by bowing to him. Even his mother the last person he would imagine doing so came up and bowed in submission and acknowledgement of his newly acquired position.
Seeing a chance Calliope sneaked off into the forest where she came from. As she got to a safe distance she collapsed. Breathing heavily unaware of the eyes watching her. Her mind raced in circles over what had just happened.
'Luna.' She taught. 'Can't, won't, no.' It felt like a gigantic mistake coming here. But her heart longed to be back there. Back in that monsters arms. To feel his strength again. To feel safe. Her eyes greyed out and a gasp came from her mouth as she was met with the Moon Goddess once more.
