Her night was sleep deprived. Thoughts filled her mind.

'You're... What! I'm what?' She wished he finished the sentence from before. Looking back at it she'd let him do anything he wanted. If she'd just get those hands around her again, holding her feeling a bit more safe. She hasn't felt safe since that night they met. Especially during the first year when she would startle at any loud noise. Loud to a werewolf, but not necessarily human definition of a loud noise.

The ringing of the alarm clock snapped her out of her thoughts. "I guess it's time." With a sigh she got up taking her bags and as she was about to open the door someone knocked scaring the crap out of her.

"I know you're there." His raspy voice sounded. She opened the door letting the raising sun shine into her eyes. Squinting she stepped outside clutching her duffle bag.

They stood too close, way too close for her comfort. All she wanted to do was curl into a ball and disappear. But right then as she scanned his face for any feelings. Her mind wondered what if he wants her to stay. What then? What if he asked her to stay? She couldn't! Deep down she knew she wanted to.

"I... I'm sorry."She said stuttering "I have to... eh... Go." A slight smile grew on her lips while she fixed the bag hanging on her shoulders and gripped the other one by the handles even tighter.

"Have a coffee with me." He blurted out. She looked at him hesitantly. "I promise if after, you still want to go I won't stop you."

"Give me a reason I should trust you?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I am an Alpha, I keep my word." Authority seeping from him.

She looked hesitant but nodded unable to say anything. Her legs felt weak at that moment. Being so close to the Alpha, feeling his dominance radiating, surrounding him making her feel weaker than she already felt.

They drove to a coffee place in town. Among humans he shouldn't try anything too risky. They sat at the window table letting the sun warm up their skin. Both got a coffee in takeaway cups. Calliope warmed her hands by holding her cup of Joe. Black is the way she liked hers. Simple drink for a simple girl. She didn't enjoy all the frills that came with such a simple drink now a days. The same could be said when it came to being in a pack so she never joined one.

The silence between them grew thicker. The awkwardness became more daunting with every second that passed.

"You said you wanted to talk." She spoke first. It came out much more quietly than she wanted to.

"You don't smell like us." He said straight to the point.

Her shoulders moved up and down in a symbol of 'I don't know or neither do I care'.

"Why don't you smell like us?" He questioned.

"You are a werewolf." He whispered the last word being cautious of anyone hearing him.

"Yes, I am. I shift during the full moon. You bit me." She almost spat the last sentence. Accusing him of the worst crime.

"You were dying." His eyes shifted from her to his cup from which he took a sip for the first time. "You would've died. If not for the bite." There seemed to be pain in his voice. A slight second of pain but as fast as she saw it, it was gone.

This was the most human he seemed to her which has surprisingly untied her tongue spilling one of her long held secrets.

"I don't know much about werewolf life. It has been five years since... But I haven't gotten far in being a... One of you." She glanced up at him taking a deep breath.

"I don't know how to shift like the other wolves I've seen out here. I don't even know how it happens during the full mood." Her eyes fell back down to the cup as she kept talking.

"I didn't think it was unusual until now. Seeing these wolves just roaming in bright daylight with humans so freely." The more she talked the more she said. It felt like she couldn't stop herself from talking to him. A little feeling nudged her, thinking it was a bad decision. But her mouth wouldn't shut up. It was like a spell or something had made her tell everything.

The stare of worry just affirmed her. Something was wrong. He looked outside the cafe window into the distance. She looked out trying to find what it was he was looking at. Until she saw two of his pack members standing at the other side of the road in ready stance.

The feeling overwhelmed her. Out of instinct she picked up her bag and without looking at the Alpha, she left the coffee half finished at the table walking out.

Exiting the cafe she turned right and walked fast trying to put as much distance between her, the prey, and the animals watching her every move. Suddenly a hand grasped her bicep pushing her into the alley. Sparks flew at the touch.

"If you leave, the council will demand your death." He whispered into her ear.

"I have hidden all this time without being caught. I can do it now." She replied.

"Not from the hunter" There was something about the way he said it that sent chills down her spine.

"The choice is yours, come with me or die."

Giving her a choice he let her arm go.

She can live or die.
