The night flew by and as the sun crept in through the half hooded windows Mateo watched his woman soundlessly asleep on the bed right beside him. He smirked thinking of how protective she was over his safety. But her words stung the fresh wounds on his heart at the mention of his fathers death.
This wasn't the first time he taught of Calliope as his. Mostly it would come from his primitive side although now he felt it more personal than just an instinct. Last night sharing the thin line between life and death cracked something between them. He was sure she felt it too.
'like your father.' She shouted. 'Like my father' Mateo taught but couldn't put the details together for it to make sense. That was a conversation for another day or perhaps another week but preferably another life time. He'd push it further and further as a gut feeling told him, he won't like the answer she is going to give him or rather the answer he is going to take, by force if he has to to uncover the true circumstances of his death.
Deciding to get up he felt her shift and a beautiful honey bear brown eyes fluttered open and a haze over the last nights memories set in.
A murmur of words and a groan escaped her mouth. "Come on Baby Girl." He whispered. "Lets teach you about our kind." He patted her thigh which brought her straight to reality with a shiver of past memories resurfacing and the familiar feeling of her first and only previous ownership sent cautious look over her face.
"You mean werewolves? You're going to teach me about werewolves?" She perked up her voice betraying her eagerness to know more, to know it all.
"Mhmm. Let's get going." He left the room with Calliope trailing close behind. The anticipation oozing from her as they made their way to his car. Only then she realised that the clothes she's wearing were from last nights marathon and the flood of memory of what happened last night hit her like a ton of bricks.
Suddenly her mindset changed and so did the atmosphere around them. "What do you want?" She asked emotionlessly as the Alpha got into the drivers side of the car feeling the shift in her demeanour. There was no way she was going to be taken anywhere looking like this other than a place that no one was going to find her. "You won't teach me. Are you?" She asked as the silence kept elongating. He looked slightly apologetically towards her. "It's for your own good baby girl."
"Can I at least have a shower? I promise you can have guards stand outside the bathroom, hell even outside the bath if you want." She looked him dead in the eye trying to figure out what was going on inside his mind.
"Fine." He murmured more to himself than her. Within seconds a guard appeared at her side opening the door and holding onto her arm leading back into the warmth of the cottage. Stopping right outside the bathroom only to hold open the door and to let her in as he turned around guarding the only point of entrance.
"Oh so he did decide to keep some decency after all." She humphed and spun on her heel grabbing a fresh outfit before quickly showering and returning back to the car awaiting her doom.
"I'm ready Mr.Alpha" She sighed and buckled up as he started the engine but before he could drive out a bang vibrated through the car as Sam hit the back door demanding entrance. The Alpha stained up at him to which sam held his gaze with equal strength not letting his laws dictate their interaction. "Let me in man." He spoke challenging his decision. Fortunately for Calliope Mateo unlocked the doors letting Sam join on their journey to the unknown.
After a while of silence Mateo began to speak. "There are rules." He glances at Calliope before continuing. "Which you keep breaking." A little grin forms on his lips and she playfully rolls her eyes smirking to what he says.
"Some that you broke literally today and you've only been awake for 20 minutes. You looked me in the eyes, challenging my position as your superior. Understated my commands of leaving by debating your own rules and disrespecting my guards who in fact are above your class." He glances at her again.
