"Sam!" Calliope called out pulling on her leopard print leggings. Almost tripping up she made it to the small landing. "Saaam..." Her voice trailed trying to get his attention.
"Yeh Po.."
"Don't call me that." She interrupted as he stood at the bottom of the stairs.
"Lets go for a run. It's full moon tonight I am feeling on edge and a run before the twilight, well it'll ease my nerves." She started to pull her hair into a high pony tail. "I hope." She murmured to herself turning around to finish getting ready.
Minutes later both of them began to stretch on the front porch.
"So. What will happen tonight?" She asked curious as to how different it could be then her chaining herself in some abandoned house basement with all windows barricaded and doors locked.
"What do you mean?" Sam questioned without emotion.
"Are you going to kill me if I'm like.... Her?" Calliopes eyes studied his face tightening in hurt, sadness or maybe all at once.
"Lets run." He changes the topic one of his eyebrows rising slightly and a grimace forming his lips. Calliope noticed that this is the exact face he pulls when she queries him about her biological mother or anything to do with her current situation. Instead of pushing it further she decided to follow him running into the forest.
They ran until she smelled Him.
Without as much as a taught her legs turned left and slowing down walked towards the clearing. Her eyes instantly found her enslaver. He was surrounded by people watching him and a blond hair girl fight. His muscles tense bulging with every move he made fully on guard dominating his opponent.
Few moves later he had her pinned to the ground tapping out, reluctantly letting him win. A moment later he smirked looking straight towards her. With their eyes meeting a sudden heat came over her entire body. Exactly like the first full moon she lived through. But no pain. A cold hand touched her back snapping her into reality. Sam. Letting go of the breath she didn't know she was holding and allowed him to guide her back into the forest.
They ran for a couple more hours taking breaks here and there. The faster she ran the less she taught. Towards the end of their exercise Sam was panting standing with his hands resting on his knees. He shook his head taking a couple more steps towards Calliope.
"No.. " Another few deep breaths. "Never again." He looked at her shaking his head letting the sweat beads fall soaking his hair, his shirt showing his lean build body.
"Sorry." Is all she said breathing heavily at his side. Then walked bask into the house. As she was about to disappear inside it she raised her voice "You're getting Chinese today!" With a snicker she disappeared into her room ready for the night to be over.
Sam quickly refreshed himself and shouting a quick "Be back with dinner!" He was gone.
Calliope heard him leave and the sound of his car reversing out of the drive way gave her heart a sense of peace. She couldn't contain herself any longer. Her body smouldering hot. Pain shooting from within her. A groan of pain escaped her lips. "No no no." Another wave of pain surged through her body.
It's too early. She taught as her body collapsed at the foot of the bed holding onto the frame with one hand as the other clung to her sweaty clothing that was plastered to her body. It felt like eternity filled with misery she was not ready for. Minutes passed and the sound of the engine gave her hope. Hope for whatever was happening to end.
Please just kill me now. She taught as a familiar footsteps made their way to the door.
A whisper brushed her ear saying 'Stop fighting it.' But at another wave of pain she completely ignored it.
A loud groan of pain escaped her as she tried and failed to stand up. Never giving up she made it out of the room crawling onto the landing where anyone entering the house would instantly spot her.
As expected Seths eyes landed on her the minute he opened the door. Leaping up the stairs he supported her head as she lay on the floor.
He looked panicked at her pained face after which his eyes stared into space for a second seeming like he glitched but then whispered "Its okay, Alpha is on his way." He picked her up bridal style and walked down to the living room placing her on the sofa. Unsure of how he is supposed to help so instead of doing anything he just stood there. His gaze never leaving her pained form.
For calliope it felt like an internal battle between her conscious mind and the deep darkness that resides on the other side. At times she felt Seths hands shake her but minutes morphed together, unable to distinguish what was happening around her.
Until the warm hands of the Alpha snapped her out of the constant agony of her bones braking, then healing just to repeat the process. His touch was like a blanket of comfort in her state. Like a drug for an addict, his touch sent shivers of hope.
Mateo was now kneeling at the side of the sofa she lay on, sweaty and breathing heavily. "I'll take some of the pain." Mateos whisper to his Mate.
"Seth, you know what to do if it goes too far." The only response he got was a hmph before Mate held onto Calliopes both arms making sure to get a firm grip directly on her skin.
His eyes closed shut, eyebrows furrowed and palms squeezed Calliopes arms tighter. Then opening his eyes they changed colour to a burning red ones.
"No" She whispered. She heard legends of Alphas loosing themselves trying to save others with their power of shared pain. The way a strong Alpha can take away a certain amount of pain until they consume the whole illness and die themselves. If the process is not ended in the right time they end up in the agony until the inevitable end being their own death.
"Alpha, please ... No..." She groaned out still in pain catching his glare.
But it was futile. Mateo was no longer there. It was his wolf and his pure animal instinct to save his soulmate which triumphed over anything she could have done right there. Soon she could feel her pain easing to a more manageable level. But his face contorted and as she sat up slowly on the sofa he sat back on his shins visibly taking on the curse to the point that made her shiver with fear for his life.
"Seth." She shouted without disconnecting their eyes. At that he snapped out of his daze and tackled his best friend down disconnecting them. For a second Calliope taught they would start a fight right there in the middle of this tiny cottage but then blinking a few times Mateos eyes dimmed and eased into his usual beautiful shade.
"Man you scared me." Seth stated getting up and extending his arm to the Alpha. They tapped each other backs smirking in content at the outcome of their experiment.
"You could've died." The soft voice broke them both out of their little bubble of happiness. "You idiot!" She raised her voice and stood up slightly swaying on her feet. "You could've ended just like your father!" She now whisper shouted taking a step around the sofa she felt the floor shift underneath her feet loosing balance and hitting the floor hard. Where her hand coordination was right then... Not present to say the least. As she fell face first onto the floor her vision dotted in black and last thing she remembered from the night was strong arms picking her up whispering sweet things she couldn't make out.
