Rome yawned, stretching his tiny dog body. He and Emma fall asleep as soon as they hit the bed. The day was tiring for him, and he held this little hope of waking up as a human in the morning again. It didn't happen, of course. It would be too easy. He growled in annoyance as he looked down on the floor. The gap between the mattress and carpet seemed ridiculously huge. He will need help to get down. He spun around, smirking at his still sleeping friend. He tiptoed closer to her body, jumping on her belly as hard as his tiny body allowed him.
"Rome!" Emma shouted, her eyes snapped open, glaring at the small dog. Rome was rolling on his back, laughing, which comes out of his mouth as a set of sharp barks.
"If you weren't so cute right now, I would have hit you," Emma growled, picking up the white cup size Maltese and shuffling out of bed. Rome was still chuckling to himself when his best friend set him down on the kitchen table.
"Let's eat, and I will take you out later." It was Emma's turn to smirk at him. Of course, he was the dog. He can't do his business inside the flat.
"Don't be embarrassed, my little puppy." Emma mocked him as she patted his fluffy head.
After breakfast, Emma attempted to cook, if you can call the brown thing, she claimed to be scrambled eggs a decent meal, they went out. Rome was settled in Emma's arms, observing the world from the dog's perspective. They arrived in the nearby park. His best friend let him down, allowing him to scroll around to take care of his business. It was weird, though. Rome never imagines having to do this kind of thing outside. He was embarrassed as people and their pets were staring at him. He hides under the thick bush, doing what he had to before hurrying back to his ungrateful friend.
He wasn't even surprised to see his female friend talking to a tall, handsome man. Rome recognized him at first glance. It was Porsche, her neighbour. He would have laughed at her for meeting her crush and being all frustrated, but he wanted to go home as soon as possible. It only took a few barks and cute gestures for Emma to scope him up into her arms.
"I didn't know you have a dog," Porsche spoke up, scratching Rome's fluffy fur.
"He's not mine. I am only taking care of him for my friend." Emma answered, receiving disapproving whine from Rome.
"He's so cute. What's his name?" Porsche asked, watching Emma expectedly. They both froze.
"Babii." Emma stuttered the first thing that landed on her tongue. Rome squirmed in her embrace, biting her finger slightly. He had to let her know how dissatisfied he was with the name she blurted out. He will give her a piece of mind when he's back in his human self.
