Pick was exhausted. He loved his job, but it was challenging at times. Being a vet was his dream, and he followed it even though his father wasn't happy about it. The clinic he was working at wasn't that far from his apartment, so prefer walking. It was dark outside when he finally left the building. Even the streets weren't that full, letting him enjoy the walk even more.
Or he could have enjoyed it if he didn't spot a tine brown animal lying motionlessly on the sidewalk. He quickened his steps, crouching down to take a better look at the unfortunate animal. Its breathing was shallow, but it was still alive.
"Poor thing," Pick spoke up, picking up the cute tiny puppy. He considered walking back to the clinic, but his apartment was closer, and he had the necessary items here too. As soon as he reached his house, he hurriedly lies the lethargic pup on the kitchen table, examining him. After he was sure the tiny creature was only out of energy, probably dehydrated and hungry, he took it to the bathroom. He prepared the warm bath, washing the dirt off of the puppy. He couldn't hold his surprised face, finding out that the ball of white fluff was cup size Maltese.
"So cute." He coed as he carefully dried the puppy's fur. The little creature stirred in his arms, waking up after hearing his voice.

Rome opened his eyes, looking back at the unfamiliar face. The man was rather handsome as he smiled at him, but Rome was still scared. He glanced at his surrounding, not finding it familiar either.
"Don't be afraid, little one. I am not going to hurt you." The guy spoke up, stretching his hand near his face. Rome didn't know what to do, so he sniffed it. To his amazement, that man smelled so good. The man smiled at his action before he dared to pick him up. The warmness of the guy's body was pleasant, making him snuggle closer. It didn't take long for them to arrive in the kitchen. The tall, handsome man put him down on the kitchen table, thinking.
"You don't have a stamp. Do you have an owner?" Pick asked, and Rome wanted to answer right away. He badly wanted to tell him the truth, but all his effort only ended up in the set of cute barks and whines.
"Aren't you a talkative one?" The man laughed, patting his tiny head.
"I didn't introduce myself, did I?" He continued, receiving a nod from Rome.
"I am Pick. Nice to meet you, little one." Pick shook his pawn like he was a person, and Rome's heart fluttered.
