#4 happy new years

HAPPY NEW YEARS YALL!! thank you soooo much for making my first six months on wattpad in 2021 an incredible experience! i love you all so much and hope you'll continue to stay here with me to read all the other crazy stories i come up with in 2022! im wishing you all a safe and happy 2022! enjoyyy this short story :)

"Ricky! Ricky! Come on we're gonna be late!", Nini whines, tugging on his arm.

"Okay, okay. I'm ready, angel, come on", he chuckles, kissing her on the lips before they walk out of their apartment.

It's been three years since high school and the group was finally getting together again. Everyone was headed to Ashlyn and Red's place for a new years party! Nini was wearing a sparkly gold dress with sparkly gold heels and matching jewelry while Ricky stayed in some shorts with just a simple t-shirt. The two of them got in the car and Ricky began driving to Ash and Red's house.

After about fifteen minutes, they parked on their driveway. There were other cars parked as well so they figured everyone must already be there. They both get out and Nini smiles at Ricky as they walk up to the door, hand in hand.

Nini brings her fist up, knocking a rhythm on the door. They hear footsteps coming from inside and the door opens, revealing Gina.

"Niniiiii!", she squeals, hugging her best friend tightly.

"Gina omg you look amazing!", Nini exclaims.

"Thank you. Look at you, girl! Hey Ricky! How's it going you two?", Gina asks as the couple walks inside.

They both nod their heads, "Good! You?"

Gina smiles, "Great as always!"

Music fills both Ricky and Nini's ears as they see everyone from high school, catching up, eating, drinking, and dancing.

"Ricky! Nini!", the red-head squeals, hugging them both.

"Ashlyn!!! Hi!", Nini smiles, walking away with her to see everyone else.

Ricky chuckles and finds his way towards his friends and as soon as he makes it through the crowd, their faces light up.

"Yo Bowen! You made it!", EJ chuckles, fist bumping him.

"How's it going?", Red asks.

Ricky nods, "Good, you?"

"Great! I got promoted last week", Red says, "And I just proposed to Ash"

"Good for you man! Congrats!", Ricky says, pouring himself a drink.

Time passes by as the old group of friends catches up with one another. Everyone was smiling or laughing, there wasn't a single frown in the room. There was music, food, games. Everything a party needs.

It was nearing midnight, and everyone was gathered around the TV to watch the ball drop. Nini found her way back to her boyfriend. She popped up next to him and he smiles down at her.

"Hey there", he smiles, giving her a kiss.

"Hey. Having fun?", she asks, leaning against him.

He nods, "You?"

"Mhm! I missed them all-"

"Okay everyone, count down!", Kourtney shouts.

"5! 4! 3!", everyone begins shouting.

"Neens", Ricky whispers.

She looks at him as everything turns to slow motion. Everyone continues counting down as Ricky's knee hits the floor at exactly 1. 12:00am. January 1st. Everyone looks at the couple, smiling.

"Nini...I love you forever and always. You're the most incredible girl I've ever met and had a relationship with. I want to spend every New Years with you. And only you. Will you marry me?", Ricky asks, popping the ring box open, revealing a sparkly silver diamond.

Nini's jaw drops to the floor and happy tears stream down her face. She nods, in shock, bending down and tightly hugging him. Everyone hears fireworks going off and so they all run outside onto the driveway after cheering and clapping. Ricky kisses his, now fiancé, before slipping the ring on her left hand. The couple runs outside with their friends and look up as colorful sparks fill the night sky.

Nini feels a hand wrap around her and she smiles, looking up at Ricky.

"I love you. Happy New Years", she whispers.

"Happy New Years, angel"

Ricky kisses her on the lips just as a gold fireworks spark through the air, creating a magical and unforgettable proposal.
