Just a quick note: The song that Olive sings is called 'Bound to You' from the movie 'Burlesque' (an absolute banger of a film btw). I'm too dumb to know how to link it so... sorry about that lol
The familiar click of the check in machine was a stark contrast to my stormy mood. I was feeling glum and more lifeless than the animatronics. Not the ones I work with. The originals. Yeah. That's how awful I feel.
"Good aft- Oh..." Alex spotted my expression and silently handed me my usual coffee, giving me a sympathetic nod before scurrying off.
"Hey! It's Ollie!"
"Well hello again, baby."
"What's with that face for?"
"Is something the matter, superstar?" Freddy's question made me stop halfway through the room. Wordlessly, I switched them off one by one. I know it was probably a bit mean when they were only being concerned, but I couldn't deal with their pitying looks. Not today. I slowly and methodically worked through each animatronic, not having the energy to run between them all, doing whichever job struck my fancy in the moment. Half way through checking in on Freddy, I simply stopped and put my forehead on his chest, the cold material soothing the headache that was creeping up on me. A sigh escaped my lips.
"I'm sorry, guys. It's... It's not a good day. Someone is on trial today and tomorrow... They've hurt so many people. My family and countless others. I'm so tense. If things don't go right tomorrow, I don't even know what I'll do. I'm scared. I'm scared, honestly. That monster needs to be put in prison. We deserve justice. My brother deserves justice-" A sob shook at my body. "You're not even awake. I'm talking to thin air." My hands tugged at my hair as they usually did when I needed grounding and I sniffed, leaving the room for some tissues.

Seeing Olive with such a glum expression as she worked in silence was unheard of. In the couple of weeks she had been working closely with us, she had been a ray of sunshine. A superstar!
But as soon as she walked in, it was like a grey cloud followed her into the room, especially when she powered us down without so much as a 'hi'.
Suddenly, she stopped to rest her head on me.
"I'm sorry, guys." She started talking vaguely about a trial, and someone doing something to her brother. I didn't even know she had a brother. Tears fell onto me and her shoulders heaved with every shaking breath. "You're not even awake. I'm talking to thin air." It's like my mind was yelling at me to break this act. To tell her that I'd heard it all and I was sorry about everything she was going through while I did everything in my power to comfort her.
But I didn't. I couldn't.
The four of us glanced at each other while she wiped up her tears in her office. We couldn't speak, but there was no need. We needed to do something for her.
Once she was feeling better, Olive finished up our repairs and switched us on. Feigning ignorance, Chica gasped.
"Were you crying?"
"You can always talk to us, baby. Or just me, if you'd like?" Monty added on, trying to lighten her mood with a joke. It was like she hadn't even heard.
"Not crying. Just watery eyes. Go and do your thing. Your rooms, free roam, climb the rafters because it's like you have a memory reset after every time we fix your legs and tell you not to go up there anymore. Don't care. I'll be in the arcade because one of the patrol bots got taken for a random check. As long as I don't get disturbed, do what you want." And with that rather cold speech, she shoved the tablet in her belt and marched off.
