Ollie suddenly stopped walking, a large shudder moving through her body.
"Are you alright, superstar?"
"Yeah..." She frowned. "Just got a sudden bad feeling." Gregory glanced around us with narrowed eyes.
"We should hurry up then."
"You're right." I patted his head. "Let's get to the main security office." Ollie's brows came together in an uneasy expression for a moment before she replaced it with a weak smile.
"Yeah. I'm probably just being paranoid, anyway."
"Beep!" We all snapped our heads towards the source of the sound. Gregory's face lit up.
"Pat! I haven't seen you since all those bots helped take down Monty!"
"Beeeeeeeep!" Something small and yellow came into the light, zooming every which way before settling on doing circles around a laughing Gregory. I had given the wet floor sign to him on a whim, but it seemed I had made the right choice.
"Good boy!" Gregory cooed. A soft smile appeared on Ollie's face, her eyes gentle and caring. She liked Gregory. A lot. A sudden realisation hit me.
He'd go home.
I'd grown so attached to Gregory that I'd forgotten his family at home waiting for him. He'd leave. Maybe he wouldn't return.
I shook my head.
He was one of the many children I saw on a daily basis, some that would come back again and again, squealing in delight when I remembered their names - I never forgot a name or a face - and some who I would see once and once only. He was no different. I examined his gleeful expression and the sparkle in his eyes that wasn't there when he first emerged from my stomach hatch.
'He's no different,' I repeated to myself. But was he?
"Well, now we're grouped up again, let's get to that office, huh?" Ollie ruffled the boy's hair. He no longer flinched.
We wandered quietly through the halls until we reached a large door. It was made of dark wood and had a golden plaque with the word 'MANAGER' written in cursive. Ollie snorted.
"Pretentious dick."
"It is a little..." I grimaced.
"Narcissistic?" Gregory offered, going for the door handle. "Surprise surprise, it's locked."
"I don't know how to get in. Us animatronics never go down here, and we'd never be called to Mr Sean's office."
"Ugh, don't call him that." Ollie took a step back, analysing the door for a moment. "It locks automatically when it's closed. It can be opened with Sean's key or from the inside. The amount of times I've been in here and had to open the door for people because he's too lazy to get up himself." Gregory sighed.
"Guess it's back in the vents for me, then."
"Sorry, little buddy."
"And look at it this way," I grinned. "Mini Music Man should still be our Ally. If he is in the area, he shouldn't bother you."
"Do I have permission to break him if he isn't?"
"Sure."
"No!" Ollie and I responded in unison.
"What? I can just fix him later!" With a stern look, I shook my head at the pair.
"You're both trouble makers."
"But you love us both anyway!" Gregory made a little 'hup' noise as he hoisted himself into the nearby vent, standing on Pat's head for an extra boost. Pat seemed pleased to be helping. "Your silence speaks volumes." He added in a serious voice.
