Moon's POV -
"Okay, now what?" I scanned the daycare. Just like Ollie had asked, we'd stuffed the slide and barricaded the door. Sun fidgeted nervously next to me, repeating the instructions given to us.
"We go to our room."
"You're unhappy."
"Very. Ollie is the first one to treat us like more than a... a toy." I sighed.
"I know." They hugged me, and I rested my head on theirs, fluffy blonde curls tickling my nose and the familiar warm citrus scent filling my senses. "They'll all be alright. Ollie won't let anything happen to Gregory, and Freddy won't let anything happen to either of them."
"I know, I just..."
"What?"
"Moonie, can we... Can we talk about what happened? What you said to Gator?" I stiffened. They pulled away from me, an unusually hard look in their eyes.
"I don't know if-"
"No. We have to. Y-you never told me... All of this time and..."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't want apologies!" They slapped my chest, not enough to hurt but enough to make me flinch. "Want answers! Why didn't you tell me? You didn't tell me anything! Not about Gator, not about what happened to us! I-" Sun sniffled.
"Please don't cry again." I begged quietly. We both inhaled sharply as someone knocked on the large door to the daycare.
"Hey." Talking of Monty... "Are you in there?" I shook my head, signalling for Sundrop to not make a noise. They complied. Sun pointed towards the door to our room and I nodded. Who needed words when you had a twin? We never needed to make a single noise to communicate.
Were we always like this, or has it just been since we were shoved into the same body?
Once we were safely locked in our room, I flopped down onto the pile of pillows and blankets we'd accumulated over the last almost three years, patting the space beside me. Sun decided to sit on my lap instead.
"You trapping me?" My lips curled in a smile.
"Yes. Tell me. Everything. No more secrets." They replied, shocking me with how serious they were being. I assumed I could distract them and steer the conversation onto a topic more... comfortable. But it seemed all the glitter glue in the world wouldn't budge my little brother.
"Okay. I'll talk." I eventually replied softly. "I never told you because I didn't want you to carry the burden I did. I'm the big brother. If I couldn't protect you from... that... I could at least protect you from the truth. The gory, disgusting truth. It haunts me. It haunts me, Sundrop. I can't remember our real names, our family, any of our past. But every time I'm left alone with my thoughts for more than a second, every single detail flashes before me so vividly."
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Moonie."
"I know."
"I don't want to make you but-"
"I know." I pulled them into my chest, playing with their curls like Ollie often did. Not that I'd admit it, but I was just as anxious about her and the others as Sundrop was. "There was a person. I don't know who, their face is all fuzzy. They told us we could follow them for some candy and Fizzy-Faz. We were playing together so our parents weren't watching us, I think. We were stupid and we followed them. There was this room. It was cold and dark and all cement. There were shelves but I don't know what was on them. I knew something wasn't right and I tried to leave but they locked the door. There was a knife. I-" A gentle hand swiped a tear from my cheek.
