They smiled like it was easy,
But no one was there to make them laugh.
They smiled like puppies wag tails,
Like they'd seen a top hat on a giraffe.

You'd grow purple,
They made it look so simple.
To draw back those muscles,
To reveal a hidden dimple.

How did they keep their happiness?
Where did they go to play?
Children thirsted for life,
So how did they spend their day?

And they smiled,
And they never knew.
Just what those smiles,
Could do to you.
