CHAPTER 48

3 weeks later.

The Irish mafia was forgotten.

The East End gang was out of her mind.

She even ignored that Roman was still the underboss...

Scarlett roused in Roman's arms awake. Her head rested against his naked torso. He had stayed at her house almost every night for the past couple of weeks. It was utter bliss. Scarlett was happy, floating on cloud nine. They felt like a family. Roman seemed to be more present. His work still kept him. But he made more time for her and Tyler. Even her mother was getting used to Roman hanging around.

The bed was cozy and warm. She didn't want to climb out of it. Roman's body was toasty against her. His rough hands still gripping her tight. She could hear his heartbeat, beating softly in his chest. His musky scent mixed with tobacco rubbed on her skin. She sighed, contently. It felt good to have him close. Scarlett felt safe, like nothing could touch them in their little haven they both created.

"Hmmm, I wish it was like this forever..." Scarlett hummed, closing her eyes slowly, in and out.

"Run away with me." Roman said smoothly. His fingers raking through her hair.

"What?" Scarlett asked surprised. "Run away with you?"

"Yes. You and Tyler. Why not?" he shrugged. "I can quit the mob life. But the only way I could do it, is to move away. We could go to fucking Fiji, New Zealand... South Africa, anywhere to lay low for a while before we build a new life together."

Scarlett sat up in her silk nightie, looking at him with a deep frown. Was Roman being serious right now?

Roman looked at Scarlett closely. "We could go anywhere you want, baby." He moved up, nuzzling her nose with his, and smiled in anticipation.

Scarlett inhaled deeply. "I can't leave my mother and business. You just gave us our home. What about Tyler's school?" she hesitated. There were so many factors to consider. But she knew her heart wanted to be with Roman, wherever it might be. Wherever he would go, she would probably follow. She could always start over again?

"Your mother could come with us, and Zara could have the bakery?" Roman suggested.

"But what about Morello?" Scarlett asked, nervously. The man still frightened her.

"Don't worry about Morello. I'll take care of him. He won't bother us; I'll make sure of that." Roman assured. "You'll be safe with me."

He was holding onto hope... this could be possible. He wanted out of the mob. He didn't care about being the underboss any longer. The last weeks with Scarlett and Tyler was perfect. It was everything he secretly desired and more. He finally dared to dream... with Scarlett by his side.

Her mother was still against him, but in due time he would win her over. Starting by giving up everything he knew. Everything up for Scarlett. His name. His reputation. His power and position. He would protect her daughter and her grandson. He would provide and take care of them. But he couldn't blame her mother, sometimes he was doubtful himself.

Scarlett was thinking about the possibilities. It grew hope in her heart and brought a smile to her face. She bit her bottom lip and moved towards him. "Maybe we could see what country suits us best?" she whispered against his ear.

That was enough for Roman. His heart flooded with joy. His hands grabbed her, pulling her body towards him in a hard tug. He wanted this woman. This woman that would set him free.

Roman kissed her deeply. Scarlett could feel just how much she affected him. They had sex that night, but it seemed Roman couldn't get enough of her. His inked fingers tangled in her hair once more, and his searing tongue slide over hers, making heat erupt in her belly. Roman had a heavy effect on her too.

Scarlett moaned when Roman pushed her onto the mattress. Her legs spread; her hands clawed at his back to pull him closer.

"You want me?" he breathed against her lips, and she whimpered, nodding earnestly.

She wrapped her legs and arms around Roman's firm body. She wore only her nighty, her pantie rested on the dressing chair from the previous night. She was still bare and delicious for him. He wanted to lick her all over, devouring every inch of her body. As if last night wasn't enough. But knew they were crunched for time. Tyler still needed to get ready for school. He had to make it a quickie.

He nipped and bit at her neck, tasting her sweet skin as she clung to him. He brushed his mouth over her breasts, sucking gently while he moved his hand between her legs to find her wet and ready. His solid dick responding with equal fervor.

"Fuck me, Roman." She hissed. "I need you inside me."

Roman was more than happy to oblige. He pulled off his boxers, and with one hard thrust he entered her wet core. He drove into Scarlett. Kissing her at the same time. Roman grabbed her thighs. He kept her open. She trembled beneath him as he moved, while she grabbed his ass pulling him against her thighs.

"Roman!" she began to shudder. Spasms took over her and Roman continued to pump. He came soon after with a smothered groan. Scarlett panted, her hot breath heating his left shoulder.

But their moment of bliss was interrupted by his damn phone. He was happy he and Scarlett found gratification before the loud rings beckoned him. He climbed off the bed, annoyed as fuck to be ripped away from her again, and wiped himself clean. His fingers grabbed the phone. The mob was calling. It wouldn't be easy just to walk away from them, he had to disappear with Scarlett for a while. But until then he still had business he needed to see to.

"Yeah." Roman answered.

"Boss, we got problems at the club." Sam's voice filtered through the phone.

"What's going on?" Roman asked.

"It's the Gambetti family. Two of Morello's men are here demanding the money from The East Hotel deal." Sam said. "It looks like they mean business, boss. You better get here quick."

"Fine. I'll call Charlie. And hear what's up." Roman hung up. Charlie was the one to deal with the shares of The East Hotel. He pulled up his trousers and buttoned up his shirt.

Scarlett got up from bed with him. "Is something wrong?" she asked.

Roman shook his head. He never got Scarlett involved in mob business. He kissed her on her forehead. "I gotta go check up on business... think about what I said. Enjoy your day at work." He said. Scarlett smiled and kissed him briefly goodbye.

Outside Scarlett's home he phoned his friend. Two... three... eight rings went by, which was unlike him.

Charlie wasn't picking up.
