Matt's mother was not thrilled that he was moving in with me as he didn't even mention it to her. He's a mommas boy anyway, seeing as he is the baby of his family. His sister is old enough to be my aunt, and his brother is a few years older than me. And after his graduation ceremony, he proposed to me! He had planned this with my friends.

I was beyond shocked. But I couldn't cry like I'm sure he was expecting me to. It was just a massive shock that it happened that fast. But when you know, you know.

Since he was in the national guard, he didn't have to work, but he could if he wanted to. Once I added him to my lease, my rent went up to $500.00 a month. Now, who lives in the hood and pays $500?! I GUESS JUST ME.  I hadn't lived with someone in a long time since I was with Mark, and it was super weird at first. But I got used to it after a while. Matt even went with me to pick out new furniture and a new dining room table for our apartment.  But there was something that annoyed me...

He had everything handed to him, and he wouldn't necessarily try to rub it in. But it wasn't enjoyable for me because I had to work for everything I had. So we grew up from two different backgrounds, and sometimes that got the better of us.
Matt and I never fought in the beginning anyway, and he loved helping with the kids when he could. I decided I wanted to move in July of 2016 because I figured if I was paying that much, I could just rent a non-subsidized place instead. So in July, I did precisely that, and I moved.

He wasn't around when I moved because he had to be gone for two weeks for something with the president—some kind of security clearance or something of that sort. So I would take my son to school, drop the other kids off at daycare, work til late in the morning, come home and pack every night until I finished. I barely got sleep but it was worth it because this would be a place of our own finally.

Sure things were moving fast but it felt comfortable and it felt right.
