HEATHER'S POV
After awhile my parents and Hannah arrived. They checked out my dad to make sure he was ok. All he needed were a few bandages on his face.
We sat in the waiting room for what seemed like forever. I was sitting across from my family holding my knees to my chest while I let tears roll down my cheeks. My parents kept trying to strike up conversation.
"So the police arrived shortly after you left." my dad said.
"Did they tell you what caused the accident?" I asked.
My parents exchanged sad looks.
"They said that the driver was drunk." my mom said.
I buried my face into my knees trying to choke back tears.
"If it makes you feel any better, they already arrested the driver." Hannah said.
"Jack Bay?" I heard someone ask. I jolted my head up and stood up alongside my family.
"Is he ok?" I asked.
"He's awake and will be just fine." the nurse said.
We all let out a sigh of relief as she continued on.
"We were concerned about his breathing and his pulse at first but turns out his body just went into shock. He came out with a fractured wrist and a broken leg. He'll have to wear a cast on his leg and a wrist guard for at least a month and a half."
"Can we see him?" I asked.
"Due to him just waking up, we will only allow one visitor until he is up for more."
I looked at my family sympathetically.
"Go. We'll wait here." My mom said.
I smiled at them. "I love you guys."
I followed the nurse down the hall and she pointed to a room on her left.
"This is his room, 212."
"Thank you."
I walked into the dark room with just the light of the adjoined bathroom shining in. Jack had an IV in his arm and his eyes were closed. The wrist guard was already on and there was a lump under the blanket at the foot of his bed where I guessed the cast was. I sat down in the chair next to his bed causing him to open his eyes.
"Sorry, did I wake you?"
"No, I've been up for awhile."
He tried sitting up in the bed but winced at the pain of his wrist.
"Here." I said standing up and pushing the button on the side of his bed making it sit up itself.
"Thanks."
I took his good hand in my own and lightly squeezed it and we sat in a comfortable silence together just glad that the other was there.
"I'm really glad you're ok."
He took his hand and brushed a strand of hair out of my face smiling.
"Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere."
I scooted my chair closer to his bed. I leaned over and wrapped my arms around him.
"I love you." He whispered burying his face into my hair.
"I love you too."
I'm so thankful Jack is ok. I don't know what I would do without him.
