Hey everyone! Sorry that I've been gone for a while, but this is what I've been working on for some time: it's a remake of one of my classes, the (previously called) Gifted Class, now called the Prep Class!
I've made myself remake this class due to a variety of reasons, that lead to I've figured that I must've offended or confused some people on some of the disorders these students have. At first, I wasn't that educated about those subjects and posted that with no intention, but I've done some research & have talked to a few friends (who have some of these special needs), so I think I've done better than last time. I apologize if any of you readers I may have offended, and if there are some mistakes still left in here, then please, voice your concerns so that I can fix & own up to them. It's better to respond to criticism & improve than ignore it and potentially hurt others down the road.
To you that read all that, let's introduce our wonderful students of the now Prep Class of Inanimate Insanity Preschool!
Bell (4 ½) & Poptart (5)!
Bell
-Bell Dingalington has ADHD ( Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) & is disabled (no arms). Just like Poptart, Bell too suffers from a short attention span & behavioral problems (like hyperactivity & forgetfulness).
-She is one of the most extroverted, happy-go-lucky kids in the Gifted Class and usually has an optimistic mindset. She's always wanting to be friends with everyone & play with them, but this has some drawbacks: with Bell's mindset, she's not so used to understanding boundaries or signals easily (like if someone is uncomfortable or upset), so she intends to ignore them without fully understanding the concept of personal space or walking in someone's shoes.
-This is one of the few reasons she's in the Gifted Class. The teachers are programmed to do a variety of tasks to help Bell out: such as clearing & repeatedly explaining instructions, teaching her and the other students on emotional & facial expressions (how they or others may feel), and directly teaching social skills to her.
-Bell can be super noisy and loud, and her noisiness doesn't seem to bother her that much, but to others... yeah it can get irritable in class. Sometimes, her being noisy (and her low attention span) can distract her or others from doing their work or concentrating on certain tasks. To battle this issue, Bell is given her chewing necklace (to combat her excitement to prevent her from hurting her teeth & to control her humming/being noisy).
-Bell loves wind chimes. Whenever she is deeply frustrated or upset, the teachers bring her outside to get some fresh air & listen to the wind chimes. At her home, she has a section in her family's garden that's just filled with wind chimes. It also helps her fall asleep at night, listening to the soft clanging of the gentle breeze of the wind.
