Seo held the knife tightly against Zizi's neck. "Don't move" she said sternly, but when Vamin looked into her eyes, he could see the look of regret, and guilt, feelings he had been bombarded with as of lately.

"Listen Seo" Vamin glared. He knew how powerful Seo was, if she wasn't what he deemed fit she simply would not be working for him.

He snarled, "What is the meaning of this" Seo sighed, she knew the knew the objective. With her left hand which held Zizi's behind her back, she began to trace patterns on her hand, invoking a spell.

Vamin looked into the fearful eyes of Zizi and cursed himself.

His cold undead heart had beat for the first time in a many years.

For the first time, he was feeling the mate bond. Emotions he was not used to enveloped him. He could feel her worry, her fear. If not for his worrying predicament he would be astounded at the feeling of the mate bond.

And an emotion weighed heavy on his heart; guilt.

He had hurt his mate and he was about to witness her hurt by his fault, it crushed him.

"J-just tell me. What is the meaning of this?" He stressed, a noticeable crack In his voice could he heard. For the first time he had stuttered.

"I—...." Her voice trailed off, "I'm sorry" within a blink of an eye, she and Zizi were gone. Nothing was left behind but a ring of salt, appearing only after they had gone. The scent of fear and the pounding of his heart conformed one thing; there were no more restrictions on his and Zizi's mate bond. He could feel not only his fear, but hers as well.

Whatever spell that bound zizi and stopped their mate bond from working properly was not lifted.

Vamin, a king to the vampire kingdom  in New Orleans. His mate was now gone.

Zora had one job

Zora had one job. After her mother had died she was tasked with taking care of her sister. Her father who had died when she was just five would say, "the strong must care for the weak". When it came to both physical and spiritual strength, Zora was stronger in both aspects. Her only job was to take care of her little sister. And she had failed.

"I am sorry, my lovely" Legbi sat beside her, both ladies sat cross legged on Legbi's floor. Herbs and sacred textbooks laid sprawled all around them. An alter was made on a stand beside them. The mood was somber, as Zora despondency spread all throughout the atmosphere.

"It's not your fault" she dropped her head in shame. "This is all my fault. My sister's first day in New Orleans, she's kidnapped. I'm lallygagging, kissing and fucking you when I should be looking for my sister" she bitterly said. She couldn't help her feelings of anger and bitterness. She could only be mad at herself. While she inwardly  cursed herself, she didn't notice the look of hurt that crossed Legbi's face.

She didn't notice much in that instance, as she sat glowering at the floor, pouting.

"I'm a horrible sister aren't I?" She turned to face Legbi, her teary eyes catching her off guard.

"I'm such a— Lego! What's wrong" her brow raised as she scooted closer to the teary eyes girl. Soon Zora's smell invaded her senses, she was all in Legbi's personal space.

"W-what's wrong Legbi? Are you tired? Of course you are, I've had you searching Gal books high and low oh, Leggooooo" she pulled her into a warm embrace.

"I'm so so sorr—"

"Do you regret us?" the question caught Zora offgaurs causing her to raise a questioning brow.

"I'm sorry?"

"Do you regret us?" Legbi said clearly. "What we had was a distraction to you huh? A mistake?"

" I— leggo—"

"No! You don't get to say this to me. I've risked my life! Helping you find your sister" she screamed.

Zora sighed, as she saw the hurt on Legbi's face. Knowing she fucked up, she quickly enchants a peace spell, instantly calmly Legbi's raging emotions.

"Legbi I like you a lot"

"Just like right?"

"Legbi—"

"Let's just try the spirit spell" Legbi sighs out causing Zora to pout.

"Are you sure I mean obviously—

"We're doing this to find your sister, the only person you care about" Legbi whispered bitterly before picking up the chalice which sat on the alter in front of them.

Zora felt a pang in her chest. She cared for Legbi, she really did. But what are words of reassurance when her younger sister is kidnapped?

She felt although she did have feelings for the woman, she didn't have time to explore them. How could she worry about a love? Romance? When her baby sister was kidnapped.

Zara just prayed she would find zizi. She had promised her mother she would protect her, and now. What a failure she was. She was raised to honor the dead, honor those who come before your. The trepidation in your step is you willingness to go beyond those who came before you while appreciating their sacrifices. And yet, she'd never amount to anything, after all she couldn't even protect her baby sister.
