1.5 hours after takeoff from Tech Island

"THERE!!" Mikei shouted over the microphone.

"We can see it, Mikei. There's no need to be a sounding siren. It's the only island with a giant forest in front of us," Toko stated.

"Tch. I was just making sure you dumb dodos had half the vision of a Crimson Vulture."

"Please stop calling us dodos," Toko said.

"I will when you stop calling me names!" Mikei shouted.

"Wait, what's wrong with Mikei?" Iika wondered, "I thought that's how you introduced yourself?"

The Birdman dug his talons into his bare skin, forming droplets of blood.

"Tch. None of you understand. And none of you will understand," he grumbled.

"Mikei, I would like to try to understand," Hakku stated.

"Let's focus on the task ahead. Mikei, where should we land?" First Officer inquired.

Static noise echoed over the headphones.

"Mikei?"

"Tch. Fine. Go to the South side. There's a patch of land Birdmen use to take off. But I swear if you hit any of my brethren I will slit your throat right here and now!"

"Understood, Mikei. Thank you for the information."

Destiny's nose pitched up

Destiny's nose pitched up. Her back wheels angled down. Upon connecting with the rough turf, she thrust her front wheel into the earth.

The captain slammed on her brakes!

Everyone lurched into their seatbelts.

Waves of dirt and vegetation erupted on either side.

"Come on, slow down already," the First Officer grumbled.

After a few seconds, Destiny lost all of her momentum. The four passengers were thrown into the backs of their seats. Her propeller barely halted when the cargo door flung open! A pair of bright red wings leapt out and zipped away!

"Oh...so...are we going to help him?" Iika asked, hopping out.

Hakku shook his head as he stepped out and stretched.

"Nope. He's been pretty resistant to being with us in the first place. I don't want to ruffle any more of his feathers," he answered.

"Besides, he said he wanted us to take off without him. Which means we should go," Toko added, closing her door.
