"Hey! I wanted to check in and see how things are going."

Sebastian's smiling face appeared on the FaceTime call. It had been a little over a month since Aisling's return from London. "Things are really good, Seb."

"And how's everything between you and Chris?"

Aisling nodded, her own smile matching Sebastian's. "It's going well. Chris has been calling every day while he's away. We manage to talk despite the time difference – once when he wakes up and before he goes to bed. Sometimes our schedules clash, but we always find a way to connect. He'll be back home in a few weeks."

Sebastian's smile grew wider. "I'm glad to hear that. Sounds like it's moving in a positive direction."

"Well, you were the one who told him I'd be in London for my birthday."

Sebastian chuckled. "True, I did. But remember, I told you that bringing him back to you is only part of it. He has to put in the effort too."

Aisling nodded, gratitude in her eyes. "I appreciate everything you've done, Seb. You're a good friend – to both of us."

Sebastian nodded, a hint of warmth in his gaze. He glanced away briefly before returning his attention to Aisling. "I genuinely care about you two. All I want is for you both to be happy."

"We're working on it," Aisling assured him with a soft smile.

Aisling stood in front of her desk, engrossed in her work, when she noticed the back door of the classroom opening. Her face broke into a wide smile as she recognized the familiar face of Chris, donning a Boston cap and leaning casually against the wall. "You all can go. Enjoy your weekend," she dismissed her students, who were now more interested in the unexpected visitor than the class.

Chris sauntered to the front of the room, drawing the attention of a few curious students. Aisling couldn't contain her excitement as she leaped into his arms when he reached her. "Hi," she greeted him warmly.

Chris chuckled, gently setting her back on the ground. "Hello, love. I know I'm a bit early, but can I take you out to dinner?"

Aisling's eyes lit up with delight. "I'd love that." She grabbed his hand as he turned away, giving him a playful look. "And never apologize for showing up early."

Chris's hand found its way to her hair, his touch affectionate. "Yes, Professor Delaney."

Aisling laughed, following him out of the classroom, her hand securely in his. She stopped at the passenger door of his car. "Going out, or staying in?"

"Well, I had plans for going out, but we can stay in if you prefer," Chris suggested.

Aisling thought for a moment before shaking her head. "No, let's go out. Then we can see after that."

Chris nodded, a grin on his face. "Deal. Let's go."

They arrived at a restaurant, and Chris helped Aisling out of the car, their fingers intertwining naturally. A hostess guided them to a row of cozy yurts at the back of the restaurant. Once settled in their private space, Aisling's appreciation was evident. "Chris, this is amazing."

He smiled, leaning closer to her. "I wanted to take you out but still keep things intimate."

Aisling nodded and playfully fixed his hair, causing him to chuckle. She touched his cheek, her eyes softening. "I miss the beard."

Chris smirked and placed his hand over hers. "Had to shave for Steve."

As they enjoyed their meal, Aisling couldn't help but express her gratitude. "You've been really understanding about everything."
