Jaime

I felt Megan cuddle closer into me and I held her tighter in response. She was still asleep, but God did she look adorable...... I looked over and saw Laney and Cameron sprawled out on the couch. Despite the sleepy ambiance, I could hear my parents whispering furiously in the other room. I let out a knowing sigh. If I know my parents as well as I think I do, they are planning to get even with the Sirens. Normally I would try and talk them out of it, but not this time. If I hadn't been there he'd have killed them all one by one. But by some miracle, I was there and I did save them. Everything had ended relatively well. If my mom and dad want to attack, I won't try to persuade them not to. The last thing I could hear before I dozed off again was,
"We attack in three days' time,"
The next morning I woke up and stumbled out of bed. I grabbed a better outfit and put it on. I think it was dark blue a large long sleeve V-neck with jeans. I slid a grey headband on because my hair was being a bitch and I don't feel like dealing with it today. I walked into the kitchen where Megan was making waffles and her sister and Laney were talking. I guess my parents left again, shocker. No one said anything as I wrapped my arms around Megan's waist and kissed her neck.
"Good morning Jaime," Megan says and I nodded.
"it is a good morning," I agree and sat down on the couch.
"Jaime it's been really lovey staying here with you. But it's time for the three of us to return home," Cameron says and Megan sighs.
"Cool, lemme get packed,"
"Jaime, you have to stay here," Cameron ordered.
"Cameron, I'm going," I reply sternly.
"The choice is not yours to make,"
"Maybe not, but it sure as hell isn't yours,"
"You can't come with us,"
"Why are you so hell-bent on keeping me and Megan apart? What if I kept Laney from you? How would that make you feel?"
Cameron was silent but then got up and angrily stomped out, slamming the door as she left my house.
"Cameron is convinced that you being there would endanger Megan," Laney explained.
"I figured it was something like that. But still...," I reply.
"Megan, what do you want me to do?" I ask as I face her.
"I want you to come with us," She confessed.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes,"
"Then I do believe I'll be joining you," I say.
"You doing the right thing. Fighting to be with her," Laney says as she returns to her feet. I nodded with a proud smile.
"I'll take you to meet my mom," Megan says and Laney giggled and we both looked at her.
"Next thing you know, you two gonna have rings, then your gonna adopt a kid and live happily ever after," Laney says as she slung her arms around both our shoulders.
"Hopefully," I agreed with a sly grin as I eyed Megan.
"Ooooohhhh, I'm glad you're honest about it," Laney laughed.
We walked down to the beach after I left a note for my parents. The humans were chilling on the towels on the far end. So we casually waded in until we were completely submerged.
We stripped off clothes off and I followed Megan downwards into the abyss. After a while of swimming, Megan led us into a cave.
"Mom we're home!" Megan yelled.
"Oh thank god!" Exclaimed a woman as she swam into the room.
She looked about 30! Mermaids must have some sort of, I don't know, ability to physically age less than humans, or something like that, "Who saved you?" She asked and everyone including me shrugged. Thank gods Cameron didn't turn me in.

"we didn't get a good look," Cameron answered.

"yeah! we were kinda drugged," Laney added with a chuckle.
"Girls, I need you to stay out of the ocean tomorrow," Megan's mother says, blowing past their not so subtle lie.
"Why?" Cameron asked.
"I can't tell you. But if you don't stay out, you'll all be in big trouble!" Their mother warned.
