And in they went.

The Great Hall: it was huge. Four tables for each house, banners hung up with the house crests, floating candles everywhere, the enchanted ceiling that made you feel that it was the real sky you were looking at, the long staff table with Professor McGonagall in the middle, and hundreds of students watching them.

Matthew walked with half-opened mouth diagonally in front of James, Dominique with wide eyes next to him, she looked like she wanted to throw up.

Even though James had been so sure about coming to Gryffindor before, a slight fearfulness began to spread in him.

It was like a dream, walking up the tables until they reached the chair with the Sorting Hat, who then started to sing:

Here I am, older than any man

I've lived for a 1000 years by now, they do for sure now show

Almost a 100 years ago, I sorted the most evil wizard of all

Less than 10 years later he applied (to be denied) here, certainly not only to make his career

The chosen 1 finally defeated him, the world was saved from being sad and grim

But here I am talking about the past, when it is gone so fast

We should keep in mind what happened before, as to not let the evil restore

For now my advice for you, is to focus on your studies to learn much new

I say goodbye to the ones who'll be gone next year, hopefully there will be only good to hear

To the others I will see again, you surely will have something gained

They lined up in a row, and a small wizard who James suspected to be Professor Flitwick according to his Dad's stories of Hogwarts stepped in front of them with a long scroll.

"Belby, Mike!", he squealed with a high voice and nauseous looking boy stepped forward, took place on the stool, put the hat on, and after a few seconds: "HUFFLEPUFF!"

One of the tables in the middle broke into loud cheers as Mike Belby almost ran to take his place at the table.

Next one was: "Bellevue, Leah!", and she became a "HUFFLEPUFF!", too.

"Carrow, Jayden!", became the first "SLYTHERIN!", and the table on the right triumphed while James puckered up in disapprovement.

"Rodriguez, Jonathan!", whom James already knew a little bit because their parents'd meet up sometimes, was sorted into "RAVENCLAW!"

The first "GRYFFINDOR!", was "Cresswell, Leo!", who got sorted right after Jonathan.

After what seemed an eternity, "Pritchard, Mick!", was elected a "SLYTHERIN!", and then: "Potter, James!".

The students heads turned at the name, and they started to whisper.

"Would that be Harry Potters son?"

"A Potter!"

"Blimey, a real Potter in our school."

Trying to ignore it, James walked towards the chair and sat down.

He put the Speaking Hat upon his head and it immediately shouted out: "GRYFFINDOR!"

Grinning relieved James jumped up and hit his fist in the air. He walked proudly towards the Gryffindor table and sat down next to Alice, who was a Gryffindor, too, but looked pretty shocked about it.
