Right now after breakfast, Professor Swanson was walking down the Gryffindor table with a list, writing down who'd stay and leave, and so did the other heads of their houses.
"Potter, James. Are you staying for Christmas?"
"Nope."
"Alright, Slater, Lucas ... ah, here.", she said, searching Lucas' name on the list.
"Leaving."
"Weasley, Dominique?"
"Same."
"Then Gray, Alice. What about you?"
"Leaving.", Alice said with a sour look on her face.
"Okay, Cresswell, Leo?"
"Leaving, too."
"Good. Wood, Liam?", Professor Swanson continued, going down the table.
"Have you guys packed already?", Dominique asked the boys.
"Uh, do I look like it?", James said, "Also we're leaving tomorrow."
"Yeah, tomorrow morning right after breakfast.", Dominique scolded.
"Ah, well, enough time before breakfast I say.", Lucas threw in, "Let's go back to the common room though, I'm finished."
They stood up and made their way towards the Entrance Hall.
When they walked through the door, Jayden, Lilly and Max came from behind and bumped roughly into them so that James tripped and almost fell down if Lucas hadn't saved him just in time.
"Gits!", Alice called loudly and gave them her middle finger, but they just laughed and vanished through the door leading towards the dungeons.
The Arithmancy teacher, at least James thought she was, but he couldn't remember her name, gave her a scolding look as she walked past them.
"Sorry, Professor.", Alice said, absolutely not looking sorry.

Next day it was the beginning of Christmas break.
They had had a huge feast in the evening of their last day and now they were driving towards Hogsmeade with carriages that moved by themselves.
Once they got to the train station, they hurried into the train to get a compartment for themselves even though it wasn't that hard since not all students were going home.
"Free, let's go in.", Lucas announced, having found an empty compartment.
James, Lucas, Leo, Alice, Dominique and Elizabeth sat down, Elizabeth had joined them since her Hufflepuff friend Jessica was staying at Hogwarts for Christmas.
They all talked the whole train ride, except Alice, who looked thoughtful out of the window all the time.
"Hey Al, didn't you listen to me?", James asked, waving his hand in front of her.
"Huh? Sorry, I didn't pay attention."
"Yeah, I've noticed that. I asked everyone if we'd share a compartment back to Hogwarts. And if we'd meet up under the big clock at the station."
"Oh, yeah, let's do that. I wouldn't have thought on not sharing a compartment with you guys.", Alice answered.
"Great, that's settled then. Chocolate Frog?", James asked.
"No, thank you."
"Two weeks freedom. It's going to be heaven.", Lucas sighed.
"Yeah, pure heaven.", Alice said monotone.
