"It seems a lot darker in here without Phil to find the bright side," Klaus looks at the empty bed.

"It seems darker in here because it is," an employee says. "Sir won't let us keep the lights on."

"He says we need to cut corners to pay for a new debarker dispenser," another informs them.

"I'm surprised they can even show their faces after what they did to Phil," another employee says bitterly.

"It's not your fault," Y/N sighs, gently taking Klaus's hand in her own.

"You're right," the boy nods. "It's Count Olaf's. And Dr. Orwell. They're a wretched pair of villains and they deserve each other."

"They deserve to be locked away for a very long time, but for that to happen we have to find the word that wakes everyone up," Violet nods.

"So what do we do? Say a bunch of words out loud and hope that one of them works?" Klaus asks, defeated.

Violet and Y/N look at each other. Violet nods a little, signaling Y/N to get up. The girl grabs a heavy book from under her bed that she has been hiding.

"Maybe this can help," she slams the book down onto the table in front of Klaus.

Klaus looks at it surprised, then opens it to the first page, starting with the 'A' words. He clears his throat, "Aardvark," he says sheepishly.

The children look around at the other employees to see if there was any change. Once they realize that there wasn't, Klaus continues on.

"You're waking everyone up," a lady snaps, annoyed she isn't getting her beauty sleep.

Klaus sighs and shuts the book, "There has to be a better way."

Eventually Klaus, Y/N, Violet, and Sunny fall asleep at the table. Y/N's head rests on Klaus's shoulder as they both fall asleep while looking through the dictionary.

The foreman walks in as quietly as possible. He taps Klaus's shoulder and whispers, "Lucky boy, would you like to get to work?"

Klaus gets up, completely disregarding the girl sleeping on his shoulder. He follows the foreman out of the workers dormitories.

Y/N woke up when the foreman woke Klaus, but pretended to remain sleeping. Once they are out of the room, she quickly wakes Violet to alert her of Klaus. Violet grabs a sleeping Sunny as her and Y/N run after Klaus and the mysterious man.

"You've been fortunate so far, you little twerp. But not anymore," Olaf says evilly.

"Yeah, you tell 'em boss," the hook handed man, the foreman says.

"One more accident, and you're mine. And this will be the worst accident the lumbermill has ever seen."

Klaus turns around, revealing he has just tied Charles to a log. Charles, under normal circumstances, would be panicking. But, he mindlessly whistles a tune.

"Now, lucky boy, would you like to send that log into that saw?" Olaf asks.

"Yes, sir," Klaus holds onto the lever.

"Klaus, don't do it!" Y/N shouts from the door.

"Well, well, well. If it isn't the other three. You're just in time for the accident!" Olaf smiles wickedly.

"It's not an accident. You're doing this on purpose," Violet frowns.

"Let's not split hairs. That's Klaus's job," he shrugs. "And you can shout as much as you want, Y/N. Your little lover boy is not here right now!"
