"Why aren't they answering?" Klaus asks as Violet finishes yelling to their friends below.
"Maybe Olaf took them away when he set up this net," Y/N sighs.
"We won't know for sure until we go down there," Violet encourages.
"We can use this net as a climbing rope?" Klaus suggests.
"It might not be long enough. Or strong enough," Violet sighs.
"If we can't go down, can we go up?" Y/N asks.
"The piping is too small to grip," Violet shines a light on the walls. "Unless you had-"
"Very small hands," Klaus finishes, looking to Sunny.
Before Klaus even looked to Sunny, she was already climbing up the elevator shaft. After several minutes, and a few scares, she made it out. She flies back down, using a black rug as a sort of parachute and with rope. Violet ties the rope to the net, then slides down.
Klaus holds his hand out, gesturing for Y/N to go first, "Don't worry, I'm right behind you. You got this".
"What? I'll be fine," she smiles, swiftly sliding down without any assistance.
Klaus chuckles, and does the same once he hears she reaches the bottom.
"We've lost them again," Y/N sighs.
"Not yet," Violet pushes on a hidden door, leading to an underground system.
"We don't know where they went," Klaus looks around.
"But we know where they're heading," Y/N says.
"Veblen Hall," the boy nods.
"I hope there's a way up. It's almost morning," Violet begins walking around.
"Why would there be a secret passage here? Do you think Jerome knows?" Klaus questions.
"I bet Esme does. That's probably why Count Olaf knows, " Y/N says bitterly.
After a while of walking, the silence is broken by Violet, "Look".
A latter, one that Y/N is eager to climb. She slowly opens the grate, ashes falling around her.
"Ashes?" Klaus puzzles.
Y/N nods a little, hesitating before opening the door the rest of the way. She slowly climbs out, taking the sight around her in confusion. Klaus, Violet, and Sunny follow.
"How?" Klaus asks, upset.
"What? What is it?"
"It's our home," Violet says, tears threatening to fall.
"Why would there be a secret tunnel from an elevator shaft in 667 Dark Avenue to our home?" Klaus looks around.
Y/N gently grabs his hand, giving a slightly, reassuring squeeze.
"Our parents couldn't have known about this," the upset boy states.
"Could they?" Violet stares at the ground.
"Guys, the auction has already started," Y/N pipes up, finding a still working clock on the ground.
Klaus and Violet nod, walking with Y/N out of what is left of the Baudelaire home. A car horn stops them in their tracks.
"Mr. Poe?" Violet asks.
"Baudelaire's? And Y/N? What are you doing here?" he questions.
Without answering the coughing man, the four children pile into the back of his tiny car.
