I took a deep before I took the shot glass. I felt the sting on my throat and I scrunched my face because I don't like the taste of it. It's bitter.
Lexie and her friends cheered for me since it was my first time drinking. Though they asked if I wanted to drink some more, I honestly said to them that one was enough and they do understand it. They don't mind.
They even jokingly said that someone should stay conscious at the end of the day so one could remind everyone that we still have trips to go to tomorrow. And I was that person.
On the other hand, while Lexie and her friends are in the center dancing with some people. Manny stood next to me and then we talked about some random stuff. I was so awkward from our discussion. When he asked a question, I will answer it with one line, or for further explanation, it would be two sentences.
I know he noticed how awkward I am so he started initiating something fun between us. He teaches a few basic languages. He said, for the rest of our trip, it would help me to get along with the locals.
There were a lot of foreigners in Bali they said. Most are Americans or Europeans. He wasn't wrong about it because inside the bar, we would be seeing many faces from other countries.
Manny and I proceed to the bar counter and then he made me try some local foods. At first, I was hesitant to try all of the foods he said I should try. It would be rude if I'm going to reject his offer so I tried it.
He made me try a seaweed salad and crackling chicken intestines. They were all flavorful that stays inside my mouth even though I washed it off with pineapple juice.
I winced when he said that I should be proud of myself when I tried it because a lot of people wouldn't try it. He said that some tourists he met couldn't take it and speak out loud that all those foods are disgusting which is very rude, but Manny's been understanding because that's the initial reaction that people would find in a foreign country.
I don't know all of these things that's why I'm glad that I'm trying it out for myself.
At the end of the day, it was a good thing none of Lexie's friends went home so drunk. Some are tipsy but bearable. We can still continue our trip to the temple tomorrow and maybe later in the afternoon, we'll go to some of the beaches Manny said we should visit.
I'm not sure if he's joining us, but it would be fun if he did.
Because just this day, I crossed out another three of my bucket list. It was fast. I couldn't imagine that I would be able to do all of these things in just a matter of a few days... but the rest of the remaining lists are the things that I have no clue if I can do it.
But I've still got time. I can make it happen.
