"Ah, Mafalda!" said Umbridge, looking at Hermione. "Travers sent you, did he?"
"Y-yes," squeaked Hermione.
"Good, you'll do perfectly well." Umbridge spoke to the wizard in black and gold. "That's that problem solved. Minister, if Mafalda can be spared for record-keeping we shall be able to start straightaway, ah and Archibald as well perfect just perfect."
She consulted her clipboard. "Ten people today and one of them the wife of a Ministry employee! Tut, tut... even here, in the heart of the Ministry!"
She stepped into the lift besides Hermione, as did the two wizards who had been listening to Umbridge's conversation with the Minister. "Minister this is Archibald, the brave man who's caught so many of these... muggle borns. I'd like you to join too Archibald, see the good work you've been doing. We'll go straight down, Mafalda, you'll find everything you need in the courtroom. Good morning, Albert, aren't you getting out?"
"Yes, of course," said Harry in Runcorn's deep voice.
Harry stepped out of the lift. The golden grilles clanged shut behind him, and (Y/n) saw Harry glance over his shoulder at them.
"This shouldn't take too long Mafalda" Umbridge said as the lift started back into motion. "This is all just a show, as I'm sure you know Archibald... Archibald are you quiet alright."
"Eh oh er yes" (Y/n) said realizing his face must've been contorted in anger. "Stomach ache" he added quietly.
Umbridge looked him up and down. "Yes of course. Hem hem. Now then as I was saying this is just a show, you know as well as I do that they're all guilty."
"No I don't" (Y/n) said instinctively.
"No?" Umbridge said quietly first. "No!" She repeated swelling up slightly. "These are dirty half-breeds! They're stolen their magic from someone!" She said passionately turning to Hermione. "Isn't that right Mafalda!"
Hermione, who had shied up against the lift wall simply nodded, a look of fear on her face.
"What is wrong with the two of you today!" Umbridge said looking back and forth between the two of them. "Now if you're not going to cooperate Archibald, then I can send you to see the minister! And Mafalda... well just pull yourself together."
The lift jerked to a stop as a voice said. "Level nine Department of mysterious."
"Alright then show time!" Umbridge said with an evil little laugh. Hermione and (Y/n) exchanged a quick look before they followed after her.
The three of them entered into the courtroom, noticing the dementors that were stationed by the door, and followed Umbridge to their seats, Hermione on one side and (Y/n) on the other, with Yaxley near him.
"Send the first one in!" Umbridge called after she had gotten comfortable, and had cast her patronus to protect from the dementors that were circling a chair in the middle of the room.
Although it only took around fifteen minutes, it felt like an hour for (Y/n), as he was forced to sit and listen as Umbridge dejected and ignored whatever the muggleborns said, sentencing them to time in Azkaban.
"No, no, I'm half-blood, I'm half-blood, I tell you! My father was a wizard, he was, look him up, Arkie Alderton, he's a well known broomstick designer, look him up, I tell you – get your hands off me, get your hands off –"
"This is your final warning," said Umbridge's soft voice, magically magnified so that it sounded clearly over the man's desperate screams. "If you struggle, you will be subjected to the Dementor's Kiss."
