(Y/n) opened his eyes and was dazzled by gold and green; he had no idea what had happened, he only knew that he was lying on what seemed to be leaves and twigs.
(Y/n) blinked a few times trying to focus his eyes until he saw that the gaudy glare was sunlight streaming through a canopy of leaves far above him. He rolled onto his stomach and pushed himself to him hands and knees. Looking around, he saw that they were lying on a forest floor, apparently alone.
The first thought it his head was the forbidden forest, but he knew Hermione was smarter than to drop them in the deadly Forbidden Forest.
He slowly made his way towards Ron, who was looking horridly pale, bumping into Harry before reaching Hermione, also on her hands and knees, at Ron's head.
(Y/n) grimaced as his eyes fell upon Ron, the whole of Ron's left side was blood drenched and his face stood out, grayish-white, against the leaf-strewn earth.
The Polyjuice Potion was wearing off now: Ron was halfway between Cattermole and himself in appearance, his hair turning redder and redder as his face drained of the little color it had left.
"What's happened to him?" Harry asked as me crawled over to them.
"Splinched," said Hermione, her fingers already busy at Ron's sleeve, where
the blood was wettest and darkest.
(Y/n) watched as she tore open Ron's shirt, exposing the hole in his upper arm where a great chunk of flesh was missing, scooped cleanly away as though by a knife.
"Quickly, in my bag, there's a small bottle labeled 'Essence of Dittany'– "
"Bag – right –"Harry sped to the place where Hermione had landed, seized the tiny beaded bag, and thrust his hand inside it.
(Y/n) scrabbled across the ground looking for his wand, before simply shouting "accio wand!" His wand flew to his hand, and he set to work next to Ron doing his best to recreate the spell Snape used on Malfoy the year before.
"Quickly!" Hermione cried to Harry.
"Accio Dittany!" (Y/n) heard Harry shout, and then a gentle clinking of a small bottle knocking against the other items in the Hermione's bag.
Harry hastened back to Hermione, (Y/n) and Ron, whose eyes were now half-closed, strips of white eyeball all that were visible between his lids.
"He's fainted," said Hermione, who was also rather pale; she no longer looked like Mafalda, though her hair was still gray in places.
"I'm doing the best I can but I'm not too experienced with this spell." (Y/n) said, the blood starting to slow slightly.
"Anything can help (Y/n). Here unstopper it for me, Harry, my hands are shaking."
Harry wrenched the stopper off the little bottle, Hermione took it and poured three drops of the potion onto the bleeding wound.
Greenish smoke billowed upward and when it had cleared, (Y/n) saw that the bleeding had finally stopped. The wound now looked several days old; new skin stretched over what had just been open flesh.
"I'll keep trying this but I don't think I'll be able to do much more." (Y/n) said still waving his wand over Ron's body.
"It looks better already" Hermione told him with a weak smile. This is all I feel safe doing," said Hermione shakily. "There are spells that would put him completely right, but I daren't try in case I do them wrong and cause more damage. . . . He's lost so much blood already. . . ."
"How did he get hurt? I mean" – Harry shook his head, as though he were trying to clear it, and make sense of whatever had just taken place – "why are we here? I thought we were going back to Grimmauld Place?"
