I looked up at the starry night sky and took a deep breath in. I was excited to finally me out of the house, away from my dad. I stood on my tippy toes to get a better look at the long line up. My dad allowed me to leave the house to witness the youngest of the madrigals get his gift. I hadn't heard much about them but i knew they all had unique gifts and powers. I gently smoothed out the wrinkles of my light blue dress. I spent hours trying to figure out the best outfit and the best way to do my hair. I clutched onto a tiny purse that held my phone, the only thing i had from the city. The city reminded me of better times. Ones where my mom was alive and healthy my dad was loving and caring and i had all the friends i could ask for. But now, I was snapped out of my thoughts because a warm hand was on my shoulder. I looked towards the boy. He had chocolate brown curls that bounced when he moved his head. I smiled at him
"Welcome, My names Camilo"
"Im y/n" I smiled at him. He looked behind me and when he realized there was no one else he held out his arm for me to take. I gently took it and he led me inside the beautifully lit up house. I reached out and ran my hand along one of the petals of a pink flower.
"Everything is so beautiful" I sighed.
"I suppose, but not as beautiful as the sight i'm looking at" Camilo said back to me. I looked towards him and he was gazing into my eyes. An elderly voice called out to everyone saying the ceremony was about to begin. Camilo's face dropped slightly and he grabbed my hand gently.
"I'll be back after, okay?" He asked. I nodded my head to flustered to use actual words. He quickly ran off but not before flashing me a smile. I sighed as i took in all the beautiful colors and sounds. Everyone started to file up the stairs clearing a path. The young boy appeared and reached his hand out behind a curtain and a girl appeared beside him. They walked hand in hand up the stairs. He placed his hand on the door knob and the whole thing lit up. A toucan flew up to him and it appeared like they were communicating. Soon lots of animals ran into the house and in the young boys room. I was eager to see inside but i knew i needed to wait my turn. Once i got inside i was mesmerized. the whole room was like a jungle. What i would give to have a room like this. Soon after everyone was dancing and having a good time. I even had a good time for once in my life. But i had to jinx it. Someone was causing a disruption downstairs. And they where screaming my name. It was my dad. I ran down the stairs quickly and grabbed his arm
"Common dad lets go" I muttered, trying to pull me away. Everyone was staring.
"Don't tell me what to do, girl!" He yelled in my face. I didn't flinch, i didn't even move. I guess that made his angry because he shoved me backwards.
