Transgender Jay : A Ninjago Story

quick update!!

Hello everyone!

Don't worry, this isn't me announcing that the fic's been abandoned, I very much plan to finish it at some point! There are just a few things that I feel you all should know and to get you up to speed on things.

I know I haven't updated in over a year! So sorry about that, it's been a strange time for a long time, with the pandemic and mental health and personal finances and much much more - and I've discovered many things about myself, most pointedly that I'm autistic and from age 10 to about 16, Ninjago was a special interest! That has since swapped to a series called Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, which is why it's been difficult to update fics from other fandoms, but this work has stayed at the front of my mind the whole time and holds a special place in my heart.

The other important self discovery is, to absolutely nobody's surprise in the slightest, I'm trans! Non-binary they/them to be precise! Kinda figures! It's not very cis behaviour to write a 100k+ word fanfiction about a character you reeeeeally relate to being trans, I should have guessed sooner to be honest! I no longer go by my deadname, I'm now wham, so if you ever need to refer to me, that's my name ^^

Thank you all for the patience and the kindness and the lovely comments- there has been THOUSANDS since I last opened wattpad so while I won't be able to reply to all of them, I appreciate every last one and will make sure that none go unread.

So, plans for the future, I am determined to finish this! I have a distinct layout for the rest of the plot, I just need to get back into the swing of writing it. I'm also heavily considering a title change? Transgender Jay is a little rudimental, the story stopped revolving around Jay and his troubles with his identity a while ago and a much wider plot has been in play for a while now. The one problem is, I have absolutely no idea what else to call it. If anybody has any ideas, my ears are open!

- and one last serious thing, during the writing of a few of the earlier chapters, I'd fallen down the *throws up* kalvin garrah youtube hole, and there were a couple moments of very harmful transmed ideology. Honestly, watching that guy was probably a big reason why I didn't realise I was trans for so many years, and did near-irreparable damage to my own identity and self expression. I plan to go through the entire body of work and make sure to eradicate any and all of these moments, as few as they were. I'm no longer a kid in the community, I'm an adult and it's my responsibility that my foolish past actions do not install harmful ideologies into the minds of other trans kids!

I'm almost 19 now, and I was 14 when I started this fic, it's been a hell of a ride. Thank you for every moment, every read every comment and all the support over the years, I strive to complete this story for all of you who've been here from the start or hopped on the ride on the way. Thank you <3
