Dream it possible

When they left London, they spent half a day just sailing to Scotland for their half of the trades. It was nighttime by the time they all arrived. Due to how dark and late it was, they stayed docked in Scotland for the night. This would be Erik's first time sleeping in a hammock and he wasn't very comfortable with it. You know, since the crew sleep on the same deck and, if Erik wanted to be comfortable, he would have to take his mask off, he was scared at the thought of someone seeing his face.

Yes, they've all probably seen something like the Elephant man or worse but he was self-conscious. Erik just decided to use a blanket he found. The next morning wasn't the greatest wake-up he would ever have while on the ship. Thomas told everyone to wake up and prepare for the day. Erik put his mask on under the covers and got up. The whole crew was above deck in five minutes to start the day while Erik was alone. Erik soon joined them and they were off to the Orkney Islands.

Although, nothing much happened between there, Ireland, Iceland, and Greenland. The only thing was (Y/N) sort of bossing him around because she was put in charge of him. To make things worse, it was time to travel to America. Six or more weeks of just ocean. Erik was almost dreading the journey. But, they set sail again and everyone was doing their part on the ship, including Erik. But the crew always took the long journey as a time to just be sailors.

Singing sea shanties, maybe having a bit to drink and tell stories about old fisherman tails. Erik would ignore that during the first few hours of the first day. Erik had been given a journal from a man in a bar back in Ireland so he decided to write about his journey so far while the crew talked in the background. What took him off his writing for a moment was (Y/N) talking about a girl she met on their last journey to America. A woman who was so sweet in public but a complete psycho behind closed doors. Erik wrote down her story almost surprised that a person could be like that.

"Hey, Erik! You got any stories to tell?" Lucas asked Erik

"Like what?" Erik asked

"Adventures, (Y/N) said you're wanted, what did you do? Something in your past, anything," Robert said.

"Nothing that any of you would be interested in," Erik said going back to his book.

"Then what about something easier? What's a life-long dream of yours?" (Y/N) asked

Erk looked up at the crew. (Y/N) motioned him forward to sit on what the crew considered 'The Story Telling Barrel'. Erik didn't know what else he had to lose at this point so he went over and sat down.

"Well, back in Paris, I was a musician. I composed music. I started to compose a musical for a woman who I thought was my Soulmate at the time. She wasn't. But I suppose my dream is to be a well-known musician and meet the voice that's there singing songs in my head. But, most importantly, I want to be loved for my music," Erik said

"Then why haven't you achieved either of those yet?" Isaac asked

"Because... I hid away all my life to hide what lies under the mask."

"Well, (Y/N) a woman who isn't even allowed to do what she's been doing but she 's achieved her dreams," Jose said

"Not all dreams can come true. Some are impossible to come true," Erik said

The whole crew looked to (Y/N) with a knowing look.

"Seriously? Why is it always me?" (Y/N) asked them

"You explain it better," David said.

(Y/N) sighed and dragged Erik away from the rest of them.

"Look, your dreams won't have a chance to try and come true if you think that way. Yes, some dreams are actually impossible to come true but give it a chance first," (Y/N) said

"And how would you know that?" Erik asked

"Because this was my dream and it came true."

"But how?"

"By dreaming it possible. But let me explain that since you're so easily confused."

Erik almost made a comment about that but stayed quiet.

'I will run, I will climb, I will soar! I'm undefeated, ooh. Jumping out of my skin, pull the chord. Yeah, I believe it, ooh. The past is everything we were, don't make us who we are. So I'll dream until I make it real and all I see is stars. It's not until you fall that you fly,' (Y/N) told him, 'When your dreams come alive you're unstoppable. Take a shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful. We will glow in the dark turning dust to gold and we'll dream it possible. Possible, ooh. And we'll dream it possible.'

'I will chase, I will reach, I will fly until I'm breaking, until I'm breaking out of my cage, like a bird in the night. I know I'm changing, I know I'm changing in, into something big better than before and if it takes, takes a thousand lives, then it's worth fighting for. It's not until you fall that you fly! When your dreams come alive you're unstoppable. Take a shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful. We will glow in the dark turning dust to gold and we'll dream it possible, ooooh. It possible, oh, ooh.'

'From the bottom to the top, we're sparking wildfires. Never quit and never stop the rest of our lives. From the bottom to the top we're sparking wildfires. Never quit and never stop. It's not until you fall that you fly! When your dreams come alive you're unstoppable. Take a shot, chase the sun, find the beautiful. We will glow in the dark, turning dust to gold and we'll dream it possible. Possible, ooh. And we'll dream it possible!'

"You really believe that dreaming makes things possible?" Erik asked.

"I know it does. Of course, don't take my word for it. I'm just a woman. I'd believe anything," (Y/N) said quoting someone who's said that to her before.

(Y/N) had told someone that because they had the same thought as Erik. (Y/N) told the person what she told Erik but all she got in response from it was, 'Of course, you would believe something as stupid as that. You're just a woman. You'll believe anything.'

She's always been criticized by men and occasionally women about her gender. Sailing is for men, not women. Her style of clothing is for men, not women. She's heard it so many times she's started to ignore it. She left Erik alone and went back to the crew. Erik decided to take her advice to see if it would work. At this rate, he's willing to try anything.
