And here they are, back in Paris. Right back where they started. This felt really surreal to Erik. He never thought he would be back here.
"Well, here we are, Erik. Right back where you started," (Y/N) said, "It's been a long journey."
"Yeah, it has. A shame it's ended," Erik said.
"You know, Thomas and I have been talking and we were wondering if you would like to just stay with us," Erik looked at (Y/N), "Be part of the family Trading Ship."
"You really want me to stay?"
(Y/N) hummed a yes, "Only if you want to."
"Very much so," Erik smiled.
"Welcome to the family," (Y/N) smiled.
Soon (Y/N), Erik, and the crew made their way to the pub where the two met the first time. There, they all had a welcome back to Paris, and Erik wasn't recognized as the Phantom by anyone. Well, except for two people who just happened to be there that night. Christine and Raoul. They were celebrating three years without the Phantom unaware that he had returned. (Y/N) and the crew told the people there about their adventure.
Erik finally joined in with the storytelling too because he had witnessed it all. He just felt so happy. The band that was playing there that night asked if (Y/N) wanted to sing anything as a welcome back. (Y/N) said she didn't but Erik did. As he didn't know that Christine and Raoul were there, he was happy to give them his song which they played for him.
He would sing about how, even though Paris did so much to make him feel like a monster and them thinking he was dead, he was still standing and doing better than ever. He felt like a child if he had a proper childhood and that he's moved on from his love of Christine. Christine recognized Erik's voice and looked over to where her angel was. But the sight of him was so different from the last time she saw him. He looked like a sailor and yet he still had his mask and wig.
The wig had been swapped with one that looked like normal, slightly curled black hair. Christine pointed Erik out to Raoul who was infuriated at the sight of this man still alive. Everyone cheered for him when he finished. But Erik still had something to do. He told (Y/N) that he would be back soon. He just had something to do. He snuck back into the rebuilt Opera house and went to Box Five. The place was abandoned as there were no shows that night. Yet, they kept the secret passageways Erik used to use.
Making sure his box door was locked and the stage was abandoned, he did the vocalizing call which (Y/N) heard. And because they were close by, (Y/N) could hear where it was supposed to be coming from. (Y/N) excused herself and left to investigate but Erik had stopped. He was nervous. But this would hopefully be the day he would meet or confirm that (Y/N) was his soulmate.
'Every inch of me is trembling but not from the cold. Something is familiar like a dream I can reach but not quite hold. I can sense you there like a friend I've always known. I'm arriving and it feels like I am home,' Erik sang, 'I have always been a fortress, cold secrets deep inside. You have secrets, too but you don't have to hide. Show yourself. I'm dying to meet you. Show yourself. It's your turn. Are you the one I've been looking for all of my life? Show yourself. I'm ready to learn.'
Erik vocalized and (Y/N) did it back. She knew where she needed to go.
'I've never felt so certain,' (Y/N) ran to the Opera, 'All my life I've been torn but I'm here for a reason. Could it be the reason I was born? I have always been so different. Normal rules did not apply Is this the day? Are you the way? I finally find out why! Show yourself!'
(Y/N) opened the doors of the Opera, 'I'm no longer trembling! Here I am. I've come so far. You are the answer I've waited for all of my life! Oh, show yourself! Let me see who you are.'
(Y/N) was just outside the doors that lead to the stage. This was it. She was going to meet her Soulmate.
'Come to me now,' Erik begged, 'Open your door. Don't make me wait one moment more.'
(Y/N) ran in and to the stage, 'Come to me now! Open your door! Don't make me wait...'
'One moment more.' they both said
Erik looked at the stage to see (Y/N), standing there in the middle. His Soulmate has been with him the entire time!
"(Y/N)! Up here!" Erik called from box five.
(Y/N) looked up and realized the exact same thing. Now they knew why their voices and songs sounded familiar. They never mentioned that because they thought it was coincident. They vocalized to make sure. It was the same. They were soulmates!
'Come, my darling, homeward bound,' (Y/N) said
'I am found!' Erik said smiling
'Show yourself! Step into the power! Grow yourself into something new! You are the one I've been waiting for-' the two said
'All of my life,' Erik said smiling
'All of my life,' (Y/N) said smiling
'Oh, show yourself!' they said
They started to vocalize their little call before stopping. They smiled at each other when suddenly the door behind Erik was kicked down. Erik looked over to see the police with guns drawn. But one cleared the way to reveal Raoul and Christine. (Y/N) could see the commotion from where she was and ran to the box. When she did arrive, Erik had been put in handcuffs and was being taken away.
(Y/N) tried to stop them but Raoul held her back. Erik was taken to court the next day where it was determined that he would be hanged for his crimes outside of the Opera house in a few days. (Y/N) was there to witness the trial but she couldn't object to it. His fate was sealed. And there was nothing (Y/N) could do except wait for a miracle or something.
