Living Nightmare ~ (Bucky Barnes) COMPLETED

Bucky pushed Maddie behind him and Sam came to stand next to him, the two of them sheltering her behind their bodies. Maddie was shaking now, unable to control her breathing as tears rolled down her cheeks.

"there's no need to be scared" the voice said, "you've been here before, after all, and you survived that ordeal"

Bucky clenched his jaw and Sam shifted his weight, ready to attack whoever was talking.

"why don't you come here and try it" he said aggressively.

"ooh we've bought friends," the voice chuckled, "how fun"

A man stepped out of the shadows and Maddie gasped. It was him. The face that haunted her nightmares, the face that she saw everytime she closed her eyes, the face that had tormented her for months while she was held captive, powerless to stop him.

"miss me?" Sarkov asked sarcastically.

"what's taking them so long?" Bruce asked.

Tony stopped pacing long enough to give him an exasperated look.

"we all got back hours ago, they should be here" Bruce continued.

"yes, we know that Einstein" Tony snapped, "what we don't know is where they are or what's happened to them"

Natasha sighed and sank into a chair. She was worried about Maddie and she was more worried that they couldn't seem to get a location for them. They'd tried tracking the quinjet but GPS had been disabled and no one could get them on comms. Clint glanced at Nat and said what everyone was thinking.

"something's gone wrong, we need to go to their last known location and work from there"

Steve nodded and Wanda agreed.

"we need to find them before anything worse can happen"

"suit up, we leave in ten minutes" Steve commanded.

Everyone left to get ready and Tony stayed put, staring at the dot on the screen. He was the one that had sent them there. He was the reason Maddie was even on this mission and he couldn't live with himself if something had happened to them.

Maddie sat up and groggily reached for her phone. Instead of finding the familiar clutter of her bedside table, her hands touched the cool metal of an operating table and her eyes shot open.

"ah, you're awake at last" Sarkov remarked.

Maddie looked around and saw she was strapped down to a table and that she had been taken out of her suit. She now lay in just her underwear and she was very aware of the various tools laid out on a small stand by her head.

"what are you doing?" she choked out.

"all in good time" Sarkov told her.

Maddie attempted to turn her head, desperately trying to see if Bucky and Sam were okay, but the restraints stopped her and she stopped struggling.

Sam and Bucky sat on the floor in the corner, chained together and cuffed to a filing cabinet. Sarkov had taken Bucky's arm and confiscated both of their weapons before leaving them to watch as he taunted Maddie.
