Downhearted (COMPLETE)

Part 1

November 12, 2004 (location: Milan, Italy)

I never believed in love, I always thought it was something unnecessary, some people think you need to be happy, to feel complete. But I believe that you should work hard to be successful and that's the key to happiness, love is just an add on to life. You know, only for the lucky, don't fall in love, Cathalina, it's not worth it.

These are the words my mother would say to me after the divorce, I kind of understand what she means now, I mean I am 16 and never been on a date, never been kissed, and never even had a crush.

We live a pretty wealthy city, actually the wealthiest city in Italy, I was walking to school when my friend, Antonio, jumped up behind me, Antonio had fluffy black hair and dark brown eyes, "Ahh, what the heck" I said in surprised, he started to laugh "haha how can you be so surprised every time" he laughed "I've been doing that since we were like 7" he laughed more. "Shut up your so rude" I said and kept walking.

As we walked into school everyone stared at us, that always happens. You see, I'm one of the most popular girls at school, but for some reason everyone hates that I'm friends with Antonio, actually I know the reason, it's because their racist bastards. Every time we walk in the school everyone laughs and does that thing with their eyes, it makes me so mad. Luckily, Antonio doesn't stand there and take it, he of course defense himself and he's the one to get in trouble. That's the problem with schools they don't get the bully's in trouble, but the moment the person that's getting bullied defenses themselves, they get in trouble.

I grabbed Antonio's hand and rushed to class, I didn't wanna deal with those dumb people today. We finally reached the classroom and I let go of his hand, "you know I can defend myself even if they try to say something to me, right?" Antonio said "yeah but I j-just...mmm...never mind" I said, "I just wanna get through the school day already" I finished.

A little while later it was lunch time, me, Antonio,   our friend Lucia, Lucia had pretty golden skin and black curly hair, "so Cathy, what are you gonna do this weekend?" Lucia asked "oh um I don't think I'm doing anything" I said "great, can you go with the mall with me tomorrow?" She said, "sure" I said. Then we saw a girl from the other side of the cafeteria, she was getting bullied, I quickly walked over there, "oh Manuele, Manuele, Manuele" I said to the boy that was bullying her, "are you seriously making fun of people again?" I said "well look at her-" he said as I interrupted "really, judging someone off looks?" I asked "that's the most pathetic thing you can bully someone about, you know why?" I said, "because it just shows that you're insecure about the way you look" I said. I turned to Manuele he was a 1 year and kind of small, but that could have just been because I'm tall he looks smaller, "what would you say about the way I look?" I asked "um-uh-I-" he stuttered, I knew he had a crush on me, "I-I-" he said as his face turned red, "I-I think you're pretty" he said "ok" I said and backed away from him, "what about me do you think is beautiful?" I asked "oh come on now she's just fishing for complements!" Someone yelled, I just ignored them, because I was just trying to make a point, "um- you're hair and eyes" he said "alright, I obviously have light red hair and light green eyes," I said "so do you make fun of her because he eyes are dark and her hair is black?" I asked. Then I saw that people behind me were doing that eye thing that hated, then a girl came behind her and poured her lunch on her head, I got so mad, there was no reason for them to be bullying her like this, everyone started to laugh, "you guys really think this is funny?" I said angry, then all my friends came up, Lucia helped the girl, and Antonio came up behind me, "Cathalina, you need to calm down before something bad happens" he said "no let me finish" I said "you guys really think it's funny, don't you" I said, then some other popular girl came up to me, they thought they were friends with me but that's just because I'm popular, "Cathalina, you know how bad this will hurt your reputation" she said "do you think I care?" I said "admit it you guys are just friends with me because I'm rich, you literally ask me for money 3 times a week" I said to the girl, she didn't say anything back, that's when I grabbed the girls arm and walked out of the cafeteria.

I walked into the hallway still dragging the girl, then I turned around to look at her, she had mid-length dark brown hair and black eyes, she had pretty big pink lips and a small button nose, I thought she was extremely beautiful. "Are you ok?" I asked, "yes I'm fine thank you so much" she said, "my names-" I said but got cut off "Cathalina," she said "like everyone knows who you are" she said "my names Aurora" she said. Then Antonio ran into the hallway "um- Cathy, the principal is looking for all of us" he said "oh crap" I said terrified. I know I have strong opinions on how the school system works but I could never say in front the principal! We all ran down the hall, "oh I'm Antonio by the way" Antonio said to Aurora as we ran, then the principal caught up to us.

As we all sat in the principals office waiting to basically get yelled at, I terrified, "oh my gosh what is mother going to say about this? is this going to go on my permanent record? I can't have that! I'm supposed to get into Harvard University, they'll never let me in after this!" I said terrified "chill out Cathy you were never gonna get into Harvard anyways" Antonio joked, "don't joke about that!" I said "plus your mom is probably not gonna care" he said "we can just go to my house after school like nothing happened" he said. I then looked over at Aurora knowing she's been very quiet, her face was supper red, "um Aurora are you ok? You face is red, are you hot?" I asked "o-oh I-I'm f-fine, I-I-I just...n-no I-I'm fine" she stuttered, me and Antonio looked at each other confused. Then the principal called us in one by one, "Antonio please come on in" he said, then I looked at lady at the computer, "where is Manuele?" I asked "no one said anything about Manuele doing anything" she said. I got mad, he's the reason this whole thing started! Then Antonio came out, "Aurora please come in" He said Aurora got up and walked in his office. "So what did he ask?" I asked Antonio, "he just asked me about what happened and I told him the truth" he replied. Then a while later Aurora came out, my heart was racing as I knew he was gonna call me next, "Cathalina" he said, my heart was racing so much, all I could hear was, ba-dum ba-dum ba-dum, and then I walked in the room.
