Alexander was made to be a king
Schooled by the great minds
Trained in the art of war
From humble beginnings in the rugged southern hills
A young successor to his fallen father
He did what he had to for his people
To reignite the dying dream
To make a realm worthy of greatness
He saw the way
He saw the path before him
A path that lay in battle and the march
No challenge or challenger was great enough
No river or mountain unbreakable
The ancient enemy waited for him
Only to crumble at his feet
Reaching to the ends of the world
Out to the outer sea
Finally, the riches of the east were his
His power was absolute
The subcontinent was his prey
But his men had had enough
Forced into ignorant retreat
His downfall came in mystery
But his legacy was corrupted
His empire went the way of old Persia
Kingdoms ruled in his honor
New faith found roots
New culture bloomed
Cities bore his name
His mission was the beginning
Succeeded by later great kings
A classic hero incarnate
An icon for the future
A life lived like a demigod
Fast and ending young
