A/N: Update- went to my dads (#divorcedparents) thankfully he has wifi. I won't be able to post tomorrow, but I'm happy to still get a quick chapter out today <3
Also I just noticed that the devils tango chapter was deleted. I didn't do that so someone must've reported it :( That sucks but there isn't much I can do. Hopefully those who wanted to read it got a chance to, my apologies. Maybe I'll write another one, maybe not 🤷🏼♀️
Thanks again for reading and I will be back Monday! <3
I wake up still wrapped in Camilo's arms. I tilt my head up to see him peacefully sleeping and I smile. I bring my hand up to his face to slowly wake him. His eyes flutter open as he looks down at me and smiles.
"Good morning" He says while stretching.
"Have a good sleep?" I ask
"Only when with you"
I smile and slowly start to roll out of bed before I am forcefully pulled back into Camilo's arms.
"We could just stay here all day" Camilo says while holding me tight as he nuzzles his face into my neck
"Oh but then we won't be able to see the look on Ana's mom's face when she learns that her little arrangement won't work out"
Camilo sighs, "I guess I do want to see that"
We both reluctantly get out of bed and head downstairs for breakfast. Ana and her mother who stayed the night in the guest room, are in their seats, with Abuela already at the head of the table. No one else was there yet.
Camilo leans in close to my ear and whispers, "I'll try talking with Abuela, hopefully she'll listen to me"
I nod and we both take our seats. Camilo goes to speak but before he can get any words out, Ana is already talking.
"Abuela, though I love your family, I am not interested in Camilo" She says very abruptly
Everyone at the table is shocked. Camilo and I, just because we couldn't believe that she would just blurt it out like that. Ana's mother looked as if her heart was just torn into a million pieces, and Abuela looked straight up hurt.
"Sorry?" Abuela says
"I am not interested in your grandson," Ana states calmly, "But he and y/n seem very happy together"
Ana's mother interrupts, "Ana no! Can't you see what this can do for the family?"
Ana shrugs her, she obviously doesn't care. Other members of the Madrigal family slowly start filling the dining room, trying not to interrupt. Good for me, because now Abuela can't get too mad at me with an audience watching.
Part of me was waiting for the blow, the big fight, but it never came. I looked at Abuela who was calm, Ana's mother was noticeably holding back tears, and Camilo was holding my hand underneath the table.
"I really like y/n"
I look over at Camilo and he's smiling
"Y/n makes me a better person" He says to Abuela, "And if you don't want us together here, then we will be together somewhere else"
I look at him with my mouth open, and he's still staring at Abuela, waiting for a response.
Abuela opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. She tried again, "Perhaps, I was wrong"
I feel Camilo let out a long breath of relief.
"I didn't know how much you two cared about each other" She pauses, "I got too caught up in trying to do what is right for the family... and I, apologize"
I smile and place my hand on Camilo's thigh under the table
"I'm sorry for the terrible things I had said to you y/n" She says looking at me, "you didn't deserve to hear them, and you do belong in this family"
"Thank you" I say, I don't quite forgive her yet. What she said hurt me, but I know that she only wanted what's best for the family.
Camilo is still holding onto my hand tightly, making little circles with his thumb on the back of it.
I look at Ana, "Thank you Ana"
I don't say anything else, she knows what I'm thanking her for, and she gives me a soft smile and a wink.
By now the rest of the family has sat down at the table, eating while watching us talk
"Does this mean y/n is staying?"
I look over to see Antonio on the edge of his seat, looking as if he just drank an entire pot of coffee. Camilo nods his head and I send him a smile.
After breakfast, Camilo and I head out of the Casita. Hand in hand we walk around town chatting about anything and everything that comes to mind. People in town, our hopes, dreams, everything. After awhile, I head back to the house, and Camilo finishes up with some of his chores.
I do a little reading and help Mirabel around the house before I head outside to the garden. I grab a watering can and fill it up.
As I'm watering some of the plants I feel someone come up behind me, I set down the can and turn around. However I trip over my own feet and fall forwards, crashing into Camilo sending the two of us falling to the ground.
I land on top of him and he looks at me laughing.
"Falling for me aren't you y/n?"
I roll my eyes and stand up, I hold out my hand and Camilo takes it, lifting himself up to his feet. I begin brushing the dirt off my skirt when he takes my hand and spins me in a circle.
"What are you doing?" I ask
"Dancing" he shrugs
I laugh as he takes both of my hands in his. He pauses and his face turns quite serious.
I stop laughing, "Camilo, are you ok?"
He carefully brushes my hair behind my ear and looks me in the eyes,
"I love you"
