The Meta Six

Chapter 14

Pov: Mark Liu

We all entered the med bay and I helped Justus onto the examination table.

Orion walked over to me with a metal tray that had a needle and thread on it with bandages.

"What happened," Marcel asked noticing at how injured Justus was.

"Orion if you will" I said as I turned to Justus and started tending to his wounds.

Orion went to the front of the room and pulled up holographic footage of the events that just played out at the mall.

"Oh god what are those things" Arianna said looking at the footage with a look of disgust.

I told her the same thing I told Justus in the car. "If those things are here now that means that Hadeon is near" I finished tying the bandage around his leg and turned to the team.

"Listen I need to know your decisions now. There is no time" I turned to the team " I know this is a big risk bu-"

"I'm in," Justus said before I could finish. Everyone turned to him. "Somebody has to stop those things before they hurt more metas and I need to get my lick back" he said as he hopped off the examination table when I finished bandaging his leg.

"Sir the story is on the news" Orion said turning on the Tv  and turning to channel 12.

"There was an attack today at blue plains mall." the female reporter said and pulled up footage of the events.

"here you can see a boy being chased after by some men who are shooting at him. The boy Is seen turning around and shooting ice from his palms. clearly he is a meta. many stores in the mall are damaged. And police are looking for those men and that boy" she turned off the footage and her face reappeared " More proof that everywhere metas go, trouble is to follow"

"Great " Justus said sliding his hands down his face "now everyone knows I'm a meta" he sighed "just what I need"

"not exactly. the footage was blurry, they couldn't make out your face they only know what powers you have" I assured him. "Orion hack into the mall database and erase all footage for the events. Make it impossible for that footage to be accessed"

"On it sir," Orion said as he left the Med bay.

"I'm in,"  Marcel said and I looked at him "Its time we prove there are good metas out there"

"I'll do it too" Arianna added, "I think it's a good idea"

"Ms. Adisa," I said turning towards her " what about you"

Her arms were crossed as she looked at me " Mark, from what I can tell this isn't my fight. I'm not like the rest of you" she said as she looked around the room at everyone "I'm out" she said and she turned around and began heading for the door.

" Your mother," I said before she walked out. she stopped in her tracks

"your mother was one of the best fighters before you. Some of the people she fought were metas, and still she never lost a fight." she turned to me as I said this and I walked towards her.

"I see her in you, Kiara. I wouldn't have brought you here if I didn't feel like you are more than capable of getting the job done. To me, your skills are a power in itself. You are far greater than the small assassin missions you go on, you're destined to be more Kiara, I can feel it. please"

She looked in my eyes for a moment as if she was taking in what I just said. "Fine," she said "fine"

I gave her a smile "perfect and last but not least, onyx" I said and everyone in the room looked at her

"Yes or no"

Pov: Onyx

they all looked at me waiting for an answer. I looked down.

images of my family's faces started flashing through my head.

Do it for them.

I looked up and made eye contact with the professor and walked toward him.

"You have to promise me one thing" I said as I got closer to him.

"And what is that," he asked.

"When we end up going head to head with Hex" I paused.

"I have to be the one to kill him"

Pov: Arianna

The professor showed each of us our rooms. All the rooms already had clothes and shoes Orion customized for us. but the professor said we could go to our homes to pick up more stuff we needed.

I sat in my room just thinking about everything that happened today. This is so much in one day.

I facetimed my grandma " Hey Abuela"

"Hey, mama are you okay. where are you"

"I'm at the professor's house um I have to tell you something"

"Okay, what happened," she said. and I saw her take a seat

"I made my decision, I'm gonna join the team. I'll be staying here while we train and work" she didn't say anything for a while

she sighed " Listen Nieta, I trust you, I believe in you. If this is the decision you want to make, I support you. Please make sure to be careful though okay" she said giving me a small smile.

"I got this Abuela I'll be careful" I assured her

"Okay I love you," she said "I love you to" and I hung up.

I sat on the bed and for a bit longer looked around the room. I felt myself becoming a bit nervous for what was to come. This was a big decision I was making. I barely even know how to use my powers.

I took a big breath in and blew out. As I blew out all the stuff on the vanity mirror in front of the room suddenly toppled over.

My eyes widened "oh my god"

I looked at the windows and they were all closed right. So there was no way wind could've done it.

Something isn't right. I walked over to the vanity and picked up a lotion bottle that fell over.

I stood it upright, then went back to where I was seated.

I took a deep breath and blew out again to see if the bottle would fall.

Nothing happened.

I tried again. Nothing.

I tried again and still nothing.

I started laughing "this is ridiculous," i said standing up "Snap out of it Arianna"

I brushed it off and chalked it up to a slight shake in the ground that caused those things to fall over, but something in me felt like it had something to do with me.

I walked out the room. The house was kind of quiet. everyone was In their assigned rooms just chilling I guess.

I went to the living room and saw Onyx sitting near the window staring outside and it looked like she was deep in thought. I walked over to her.

"It's a nice window, I would stare at it too" I said as I sat next to her.

"Hi," she said turning to me and giving me a small smile.

"You spend a lot of time in your head huh," I said to her and she stared down into her lap. "what do you think about"

she chuckled "everything," she said and she looked up at me."I think about everything. mostly about my family"

"Did something happen to them?" I asked as she turned and stared out the window again.

She didn't respond and returned her gaze back to the window.

The rest of the team came down the steps and walked towards us.
