(EXCUSE MY TYPOS)

Pov: Justus Carter

"Mom I'm heading out, I'll be back in a few " I called out to her as I stood in the doorway.

"Alright, be safe" she yelled from the kitchen. I was on my way to go for a run. It was nice outside and I wanted to clear my head and have some alone time.

I got into my car and drove to the park where I usually go running.

Music was blasting through my speakers and the sun was so bright. It felt like a good day and I was generally in a good mood.

When I got there I parked and began to run my usual path. I was still contemplating the offer that the Mark Liu guy gave me. Is it worth it, I found myself
constantly asking myself.

I kept running, enjoying the music blasting through my headphones. I looked over at where families and kids were hanging out in the grass and saw someone familiar sitting alone on a bench.

I felt myself slow down when I came across the girl from last week, the silent one. Onyx, I think it was. She was talking to a little girl when all of a sudden her demeanor changed and she stood up abruptly. I slowly came to a stop to see what was going on.

Her face changed into fear so fast. I couldn't make out what they were saying.

All of a sudden she pushed her hands forward, using her powers to make the girl go flying backward.

"What is she doing," I said to myself as I pulled off my headphones.

She immediately looked like she regretted it. People started screaming, shouting around her, and throwing a bunch of garbage at her.

I usually mind my business and stay out of altercations that have nothing to do with me but I just couldn't stand and watch them do that to her.

I ran towards the crowd and pushed my way through. I took her hand and pulled her out and started towards my car. She turned around and looked back at the people shouting at us.

"Don't look just keep walking," I said to her.

When we got to my car I helped her into the passenger and put the seatbelt on her. When I closed the door I noticed the same group of people heading in our direction, yelling all types of insults. I ran over to the other side of the car, hopped in, and immediately pulled off.  She was breathing heavily and her eyes were darting around the car. She was clutching at her chest and her brown skin looked slightly pale.

As I drove, she was still hyperventilating. "It's over you're safe now, It's okay," I said attempting to calm her down "Do you need water?"

She didn't reply.

Suddenly I heard her breathing stop. I looked over and saw she had now blacked out.

"Oh my god, " I said to myself quickly pulling over to the side of the road.

I put the car in park and looked over at her trying to figure out what I should do.

She had a sweater that looked baggy on her, leggings, and crocs on. She also had her hair in a top bun which allowed her face to show more. There was a piece of plastic stuck in her curls from the trash people were throwing at her. I reached over and pulled it out.

I grabbed an unopened water bottle from my backseat. I put my hand on her shoulder and gave her a small shake " hey wake up." She still didn't move. I put my finger to her wrist to find a pulse and make sure she was still breathing.

I was relieved when I felt the soft beating on her wrist. I gave her another shake, this time a bit harder.

She made a loud gasp and sat up quickly "I DIDN'T KILL THEM LET ME GO" she screamed flailing around frantically.
