The Meta Six

The six I've chosen

"Orion, a weekly update on everyone," I said, pacing back and forth in the laboratory.

"Yes, Professor," he replied after a brief pause. Orion is my robotic assistant. For as long as I can remember, he's been, my right-hand man. He, like everything else in this house, was built by me. It took me years to equip this house with the cutting-edge technology it now has.

"Sir", Orion started, "Justus is currently participating in a game of basketball on a court near hall street". He said as he pulled up live video footage of Justus Carter running down a basketball court.

"Has he used his powers this week"? I asked. "
"No sir, the last time he put his powers to use was two weeks ago". Orion replied.

Justus Carter is cryokinetic and able to control and form ice. His family Is extremely wealthy but he isn't boastful about it.

Based on what I've observed over the years, he would be a great addition to the team I intend to form. He doesn't know the full length of his powers since he prefers not to use them due to how society frowns upon metas, however, he has very good self-defense skills.

He's extremely humble and closed off, he's the quiet and calm type unless he is provoked.

He's 19 yrs old and stands at 6'5 with dark skin. From what I've seen, he's quite the basketball player but also keeps up with his college work.

"Now, how is Kiara doing?" Kiara is the only one of the six who lack special abilities. Her combat abilities, on the other hand, could be considered a superpower in and of themself.

She's an assassin. She charges her clients a lot to get a job done because of how good she is. She pulls off moves I've never seen even the best fighters pull off.

The only other woman I can think of who possesses greater combat skills would be her mother.

She is a 18-year-old woman with dark skin and a height of 5'9. Her only family members are her father and two younger sisters. Her mother was killed in a chemical explosion

home. "She's teaching her usual Wednesday boxing class right now, she's had 7 missions this week and all of them have been successful," Orion said.

No surprise there.

"Is there any news on Arianna? Has she gotten better at controlling her abilities?" Arianna possesses invisibility powers, but she is unaware of their full extent as well as the fact that she is an aerokinetic, able to control air and wind.

Having more than one power isn't unusual for a meta. However, most times that second power remains dormant and it tends to activate unexpectedly.

Arianna is a 19-year-old Hispanic girl with a height of 5'7. Her personality is bubbly, and she treats everyone with kindness.

Every weekend, she volunteers at her local homeless shelter. She lives with her grandparents and her younger brother. Her father died in a car accident, and her mother is in the military.

"No sir, she still becomes invisible spontaneously. Most times it's when she's sad. She fights to control it, however."

"Great," I said as I rubbed my hands down my face in frustration "Just great. Sooner or later, she'll need to control that. I'd rather sooner than later."

"I reckon you want me to skip Marcel's update sir?"
"Yes, Marcel doesn't require much observation," I assured him.

Marcel is a technopath. He can command technology and bend them to his will . This power also permits him to hear what a machine is thinking and establish a direct channel of communication with it.

He is 17-year-old with a height of 5'11" and tan skin. He has a stable home, two parents, and no siblings. Marcel is also hyper Intelligent, he skipped almost 7 grades and is a junior in college.

Because he wasn't as much of a wild card as the others, I didn't keep as close an eye on him. He spends most of his time focusing on school and doesn't have much of social life.

"Anything on Jaxon? anything at all" I asked with a sigh, expecting the same answer Orion's been giving me for years.

"No sir. unfortunately, his location remains unknown"

Just like I thought

Jaxon is the identical twin of Justus. He's a pyrokinetic, able to control fire as well as create it.

He went missing when the boys were 11. It's now 9 years later and he has yet to be found. No one knows whether Jaxon is dead or not but I don't want to assume the worst.

"Last but not least, how is Onyx" Footage of Onyx hunched over in the same chamber she's been sitting in for the past 9 years showed up on the big screen.

"Well sir, there isn't much change, she's still in the same facility we saw her in last week, and the weeks before that".

Onyx is a 19-year-old girl, standing at 5'6 with big curly ginger hair and light caramel skin.

Onyx's entire family is deceased. She lost them when she was 10 when one of the worst villains, Hadeon, invaded her home.

It's unsure the exact way her family died but I've watched the police interrogation footage numerous times, and when she said she was telling the truth, I believe her.

She was then imprisoned in a government facility on the outskirts of town. They locked her in a cell made of steel, which resides in a bigger room, equipped with power weakeners lined in the walls, and is guarded by 50 military soldiers.

She was placed there instead of a regular prison when she was so young because prison officials knew what she was capable of. Onyx never meant any harm but her powers made others view her as a threat.

Onyx is a psychokinetic meaning she can mentally control almost anything with her mind. Onyx is dangerous not only because of her abilities but also because of what she carries within her.

She possesses a being inside her called Ultra X who is by far the most powerful entity alive. UX possesses numerous abilities and It is unknown why UX chose Onyx as a host and where exactly it came from.

I've only ever seen UX come out of Onyx once, the day her family died.

I'm not sure exactly what triggers UX to come out. However one thing is for sure: the next time Ultra X comes out, everything around her should beware.

"Thank You, Orion, You can turn off the cameras now"
"Sir, if you don't mind me asking," Orion began, "we've been watching these individuals for many years, and the threat has grown as time has passed. When are we going to make our next move?"

Orion was correct. I know I need to get into phase two as soon as possible, but I needed to monitor them for so long to be certain of what I'd be dealing with. There aren't many meta-humans in society with the potential that the six I've chosen have.

"I believe I've seen everything I need to see, Orion," I said as I began walking out the room, Orion close behind. "We start phase 2 tomorrow".

The second phase consisted of me introducing myself to each of the five metas. I'm not sure how they'd react if they knew a stranger had been watching them for years, but it was necessary. After that, I'll tell them about my plan to form a group.

"Which meta are you going to start with, sir?" Orion inquired.

"Let's begin with Justus."
