The Meta Six

Chapter 12

   I woke up in what looked like a hospital but was more advanced. I sat up and looked to my right and saw the professor standing in front of a screen looking at it.

"Woah take it easy," he said as he saw me sitting up

"What happened," I asked running my hand on my forehead.

"well I came to check on you and I saw you laying almost lifeless on the floor," he said"it seems like you blacked out. you've been out for two hours."

"Are we in a hospital?" I asked taking in my surroundings. It looked like an ER but way more advanced.

"Not precisely," he said, " this is still my house but it's the medical section I created. It's equipped with all the best medical tools, medications, etc"

"I need to ask you something," I stated, "you said you knew a lot about me," I said getting out the bed. "what can you tell me about UX?"

"Well, I know she's unstoppable. And her spirit only occupies the strongest bodies. The body she was in before yours, was killed" he paused and looked down. I saw a look of sadness appear on his face but he quickly composed himself before continuing "um naturally she found a new body to occupy. the host can die but UX will continue to live on"

"who was the last host for UX," I asked

He took off his glasses, leaned against the counter behind him, and looked down. He was silent for a moment.

"My daughter" he stated as he looked up at me " Elizabeth Liu, she was killed Hadeon ". he walked out of the medical room and down the hall. I followed behind.

we entered the living room and took a seat " I'm sorry for your loss" I said

He put his glasses back on " well now you see why I take this team and this plan so seriously. I've seen and studied the damage Hadeon has caused not just to me, but to others around the world" he paused

" And to you" I looked away when he said this.

"His plan is always to take down the strongest meta before going for the regular metas. The strongest being who ever possesses Ultra X. He always seems to know who is hosting her. That's why he came for you and your family all those years ago."

"if Ultra X is so powerful why can't she face him once and for all," I said

"Hadeon also possesses something inside him that is similar to Ultra X but not as strong. The Anti," he said. He walked over to the table in the middle of the room and tapped a few buttons on it and a hologram picture appeared "that's him" he said. The Anti"

"UX and Anti have gone head to head in the past and every time they go head to head no one wins but they both become dormant for years in the host from the damage they've caused to each other. which is why Hadeon has been gone for so long. but he's coming back with soldiers he's formed. the world needs this new meta team badly".

"How do you know all this," I said eyeing him

" It might sound crazy to keep having dreams and visions of his return and the damage he could cause," he said. "At first I chalked it up to it simply being a nightmare, but over time they became too vivid, too realistic"

He took a seat next to me and stared at the floor "with the crime by metas increasing, and the return of Hadeon, if there is no meta team to combat all this" he paused and made eye contact with me

"It's the end of the world as we know it"

Orion drove me to a park nearby. I wanted to look around and I needed some fresh air.

I sat on the bench and looked around. I smiled as I realized how good it felt to finally have the breeze hit my skin, to have the sun sting my eyes, and to hear the sound of the leaves rustling.

I watched as couples jogged down the path, children ran around with no care in the world, and families spent time together.

I leaned back and stared up at the sky, If only I could be with my family, I thought to myself. As I began feeling a painful heaviness form in my chest, I pushed the thought out of my head.
I can't deal with those emotions.

I closed my eyes taking in the fresh air.

"Hi," someone said to me causing me to open my eyes.
It was a little girl. she had blonde long hair and she looked about 10 yrs old. "Um hi," I said feeling a bit awkward.

"You're really pretty," she said. I was a bit caught off guard, that was the last thing I expected her to say.

"Oh um thanks. uh, you too. where are your parents?" I asked

She turned around and pointed to a bench a couple of feet away, "over there."

I looked at them and they smiled and waved at me and I waved back, returning their smile.

I turned my head back to the little girl but when I looked at it it wasn't her face anymore. Panic immediately took over my body.

I was now looking at the face of Hadeon  "You're done for good this time" he said with a sinister smile"

I quickly stood up and backed away "get away from me!" I screamed

He stepped closer "it's only a matter of time," he said with a laugh.

"I SAID GET AWAY,' I yelled pushing my hands forward which activated my powers and sent him flying backward hitting the grass hard. His face faded and the little girl's face returned and she was crying.

"What have I done," I said to myself covering my mouth with my hand in disbelief.

"OLIVIA OMG OLIVIA" I turned around and saw the little girl's parents run over. the mom ran to embrace her daughter.

"I'm so sorry-" I began as I stepped forward.

"STAY BACK YOU META," the dad yelled in my face. A crowd began to form around me.

"She just hurt that little girl" "This is why I hate metas" and "how could you be so mean" people in the crowd were saying. they started stepping closer.

"I didn't mean- I'm sorry- I - I'm so- I don't kno-"  I couldn't get the words out. they started stepping toward me shouting all types of insults. Some people were throwing trash at me.

I started moving back. I felt everything around me start to spin. I began hyperventilating.

I felt someone grab my hand "let's go" they whispered to me as they pulled me out of the crowd.

It was one of the boys that were at the professor's house last week.

As he pulled me I turned around to the crowd that was still yelling out to me.

"Don't look just keep walking" he said. we got to his car. and he helped me get into the passenger seat he quickly drove off.

I started feeling like everything was closing in on me and I could feel my heart beating out of my chest.

I looked at the boy next to me and he was saying something but the ringing in my ears was too loud and I couldn't make out the words he was saying, I only saw his mouth moving.

Everything then faded to black.
