"There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you." -Maya Angelou

There's this room that no one notices. And I always wonder why. It made me think if I'm too introverted that I keep everything to myself.

Each corner is painted with Atrium White, with sliding windows that give a view of the cafeteria and cabinets, containing dust and unopened books.

Today I will finally revisit that room after 3 years. It's a dream come true, when you have a place all to yourself. Where there's no annoying sister knocking at your door or a yelling mom or a snoring father.

I opened the wooden door, my mouth opened and in shock.

If I'm completely honest, I'm expecting a spider web all over the place and it wouldn't be just dust covering the floor but all different kinds of dirt. In short I am expecting that this would be a disgusting place.

But it's not. Was someone using this room now? They did transform this into a new office?

And why the hell are there so many pictures of red trucks posted here?

"Hey"

Shit. What the fuck? When did Hannah come? And how the fuck did I not hear her.

My chest rises up and down. Why do I get so surprised easily?

"Why are you always following me? Are you some sort of stalker?"

I snort. "No I am not."

"Then why are you in my room?"

"You're room?" I asked

"Yeah" she went inside, passing through me. "No one ever used this. So I did."

But I use this. I smiled at the thought that   someone took care of this

We stared at each other in silence. I cleared my throat, "What's with these pictures."

"Nothing"

"Are you a fan of trucks?" I say, touching the photos with my fingers

"Not really. But I am interested in how much each part costs." I nod at her.

"So what course are you planning to take?"

"Bachelor of Laws" she says proudly.

She placed her bag on the table and started to pick out more photos. I watch her carefully attach it to the white walls.

When her arm stretches I see a bruise in her shoulders, I look away, her life isn't mine to meddle but that doesn't mean I shouldn't care.  I cleared my throat "How are you by the way?"

"I am good," she says. She suddenly tilted her head and saw me staring at her shoulders. "I'm planning to go on the rooftop... wanna come?" she asks.

I really shouldn't but those gray eyes make me want to.

"Sure," I responded. I followed her steps and as we reached the doors it shuddered. I watched her in awe, when she removed the locks.

The rooftop was modest, I never went there because it wasn't finished.  I look around and see different kinds of plants growing. It seems like someone has been gardening here.

"These are peas, I planted them a month ago," she says, answering the question in my mind.

It's the only hushed winds I hear then comes her humming,

"Wow"  she says as she covers her mouth in surprise

I look at where her eyes were looking and saw small dots in the view,

Fireflies make the sight magical. There were hundreds flying everywhere and one of it got in Hannah's hair.

Using my fingers I lightly brush it, making it go away.

I saw her eyes flash. I don't know how long we were glancing at each other. But one thing for sure, she's debating whether to talk or not to talk to me.

"One day, when I grow older, I'll build a place only for fireflies..." I say, still mesmerized by the view.

"I haven't thank you yet, I'll pay you the hospital bills you paid someday once I get my money."

I put my hands in my pocket, "It's okay. You shouldn't have been punched by that asshole anyway. What 's his name again?"

"Jay."

I'll keep his name in my mind.

"Why did you choose this school?"

You're not going to tell her, you're just making a conversation. "They highly recommend it for sports. I'm  a swimmer"

"Oh.."

"How about you?" I ask

"I was supposed to leave, but I need to finish something here first" She clicked her tongue. "Why do awful people live?"

What?

"What do you mean?"

"The only reason I'm here is because I have to..." I look at her, she's hesitating to continue.

I wait for her..

"There's this couple and they have to pay for what they've done with my family."
Goodness. When did the atmosphere here suddenly get hot?

"Do you think those people deserve to live?" She asks

I wet my drying lips. "I don't know, but we don't have a right to judge whether they should live or not. We're just humans, we make mistakes." I said.

Her dark eyes are wide as she swallows hard and then stands up straight.

My phone lights up with a message.

Mom: Rebecca is waiting in your room. Where are you?

Rebecca? Why is she in my room?

"Why is she in my room?" I sent her.

She immediately responds. Mom: It's the perfect night to know her. I booked you to Leona's place. Be good.

I exploded inside. I hate when mom interferes with my love life. It makes me feel like a teenager.

"My mom wants me home, will you be okay here alone?" I said.

"Yeah" she says then turns around.

I left, leaving the firefly that lights up the dark skies.
