A Mentor's Hand (文豪ストレイドッグス)

I peered into the glass looking into the bedroom where Kiyo lay. She wore several tubes and a breather to match. Boss stood right beside me, looking at her with a doctor's interest. Eventually he shifted his gaze to his subordinate - me. I bowed my head and proceeded to tell him the mission's details. A powerful-gifted girl was found being kept hostage by a group that wished the port mafia harm (using her gift), so I was sent to dispose of them, and retrieve the girl.

The group was really weak; my men took but three minutes to get them out of the way, but they had left the girl in a rather... damaged state. She had been beaten senseless. She was being kept in a moldy room of the groups base, the only thing on her was a tattered night gown - with only her first name stitched on - and incredibly dirty and blood soaked bandages. Parts of her skin were purple and blue from where they had crushed her bones, and blood leaked from multiple places on her body, including her head.

However, she was still conscious. I had broken into the room where she had been a hostage, she lifted her head ever so slightly, raising hollow eyes to meet my gaze. Immediately, I knelt down to try and stabilize her (the boss ordered her capture alive, which apparently wasn't going to be a struggle) and I heard her whisper: "...come... to kill... me?"

It seemed like a plea, so of course I was reminded of that idiot Dazai. Surely he had died and this was his reincarnation. Never less; bosses orders.

" No," I told her. My men got her into the silver truck, and we drove off.
I didn't mention her words to the boss, and the rest of the mission was boring and the same as any raid/eradicating mission.

"There's been a break-in at one of our warehouses!" A mafioso ran up to report to us. Boss looked at me "I'll let you handle that." I ran down the hallway to where my men were already waiting for orders.

"Get the guns, boys, we're having some fun tonight," I barked.

Mori smiled, future plans working themselves out in his mind. "She will be a beautiful asset," he murmured.
