The beginning

Surrey, fucking Surrey. Out of all places, why did I pick here? I've been in the city two hours and already some random strange guy has tried to hit on me and I swear he even followed me for at least 20 minutes. I was starting to think this wasn't the best idea. "Earth to Alexa!" My best friend Maddy called over to me which snapped me out of my thoughts. I'm Alexa by the way, as you probably already know. I'm 17 and only recently had enough of my parents treating me like shit. Well I had enough a long time ago, but I was never old enough to do anything about it until now, so myself and my best friend decided to move away. It seemed like a good idea at the time. I suppose anything is better then being back there. "Sorry, I was just thinking." I replied and pulled out the last of out bags from the taxi. "Well don't! The last thing you need right now is to think about, them. Just enjoy yourself! We're starting college in just a few days and who knows? You may meet the love of your life!" I laughed at the thought of that happening. "Your right" I finally admitted and she squealed in delight. "I just have to stay positive." I mumbled to myself. Looking at the the two bedroom flat that was standing in front of myself and Maddy caused a smile to spread across my face. "We did it! Mads I'm so excited, thank you so much for doing this with me!" I pulled her into a tight hug causing her to giggle to herself.

The next few days seemed to fly by. We settled in pretty quickly, and we even got to know our neighbours! They were a lovely old couple who were very welcoming which was nice. "Lexa wake up!! We have to leave in an hour!" Maddy called in through the door. "I'm awake, I'm awake!" I called back defensively and walked straight to the bathroom. The shower still took some time to get used to, turning it on/off and changing the temperature was hard! After my shower I darted over to my wardrobe where most of my clothes were hung neatly but not for long as I pulled out a pair of black skinny jeans with a rip in the knees and an oversized nirvana tee messing it all up. It was the first day of college today, saying I was nervous would have been a massive understatement. I've never really been good at socialising, Maddy knows that, she was the one who made the effort with me first and that's how we became so close. "Come on let's go!!" I laughed at her irritation and walked out of my bedroom to see her standing by the front door, she seriously looked like a model, she looked so pretty, and then there was me. "Mads why do you do this to me?" I asked sarcastically. "Alexa you look beautiful so shut it." She winked back and we hurried out the door on our way to college.

When we arrived my stomach instantly turned making me feel sick. Mads noticed this and gave me a sympathetic look. "Here are your time tables, your locker number Maddy is 2234 and yours Alexa is 2235 so right next to each other. If you need any more help just ask someone or come back here and we'll do our best to help you. Have a good first day girls." The lady at reception seemed nice, let's hope the teachers are just as nice as that. "Oo we have maths and English together!! And when you have music I have drama which is in the same building anyway." Maddy smiled excitedly and I grinned back as we started making our way to English lit. We arrived a few minutes late but the teacher wasn't there yet which fave us time to sit down, the only seats available were at the back next to a group of boys who might I add, we're very good-looking. "Hi, do you mind if I sit here?" I asked nervously biting my bottom lip. "Go for it." the guy answered rudely, he could've been nicer about it. His eyes looked me up and down and for a moment he smirked making me feel even more self conscious than I did already.

"For your first assignment of the year, i will make it fun, ish. You will be paired up with a class mate, you have to get to know them throughout a period of two weeks and then you will have a week to write a report on that person. I will be picking the pairs and once chosen they cannot be changed." The teacher, Mr Harris, explained to the class and started pairing up classmates. I knew for sure I wasn't going to be with mads but I was okay with it, until he read out who I was paired with. "Kyle and Joanne, Melissa and Olivia, Alexa and Josh.." Josh, who happened to be the guy I was sat next to, who seemed to dislike me for whatever reason. "You've got to be kidding me.." He spoke aloud actually quite harshly. What did I ever do to him? Maddy got paired with a guy called Matt who was extremely cute and seemed to smile a lot. He had invited us to have lunch with him but Josh politely refused to go if I was there, so I told Maddy to go without me.

"Hey Alexa we missed you at lunch!" Matt called over and I smiled at him, "oh yeah, I wasn't feeling so good, sorry" he nodded and came closer to me. "I know what Josh said, and to be honest, he's being a dick. Have lunch with us tomorrow! If he doesn't come then it's his loss." He put his arm around me and pulled me into a side hug. "Thanks Matt but he's your friend, I don't want to be the reason he stops hanging out with you." I replied sweetly. "But he's going to have to grow up soon, he has to do a report on you, and you have to do one on him! He may not mind failing but he can't let you fail." Matt reassured. "You know what? I think I will fail, I don't want to be around someone who hates me for no reason, but thanks anyway Matt." And I walked away to find Maddy.

"How cute is Matt? He's lovely right? I'm so lucky to be paired with him!!" Mads constantly told me on our way to music and drama. "You are, and he is." I replied for the millionth time. "And what about you and Josh? You have to work something out!" She told me with a concerned look. "Look I don't mind failing this okay? Obviously I don't want to, but I've got no choice in the matter. So please leave it okay?" She nodded back at me and left for the drama hall. I'd been told the music course was small at this particular college so there was only 8 people in our class, I walked in to see the same group of boys from English, including Josh, a girl called Louise who seemed lovely and smiled over to me instantly and a guy who I believe was called Brandon. "Lexa!!" Matt called me over to sit with him and I smiled but declined. "Alexa" he said again and pouted until it gave in and sat with the boys. They all seemed so silly and happy. All apart from Josh who non stop scowled at me making me feel uncomfortable. Our teacher didn't show up for this lesson so I chilled with Matt, max, dan and Chris who were all lovely. Brandon also came over to talk to me which I thought was nice.
