"Right, I'm ready!" I called into Maddy's room, for once I was ready before her. "I'll be out in a minute!" She called back and I walked into the kitchen to wait. My phone buzzed from the side with no caller id so I took some time debating wether to answer in case it was my mother, I took my chances and answered seconds later.
"Hello?"
"Alexa it's Josh. I wouldn't be calling but I need your help, it's Matt, he's in hospital and I don't know why, it could be nothing but you're his friend too so I thought id tell you, and I don't want to go alone in case it's bad.. and the guys are busy." He rambled.
"What? Come and get me, I'll come with you." I hung up just as Maddy walked into the room, she looked stunning. "Mads you look beautiful!" I told her and pulled her into a hug. "Thank you Lexa! You don't look too bad yourself" she winked back. "Ive just found out that Matts in hospital and I have to go see him so I can't go tonight, I'm so sorry mads but I hope you have a good time" I blurted out hoping she wouldn't get too annoyed. "What? Is he okay? Do you want me to come with you?" She replied with a worried expression spread across her face. "It's fine, Josh is coming, but thank you" I hugged her again before she could ask anymore questions and Josh pulled up outside.

"I thought Matt was away in London this weekend?" I asked artlessly as I got into Josh's car. "He is, the hospital is in London.." He paused waiting for my reaction as if I was about to change my mind, but instead I didn't say anything and he started driving. It was an hour and a half drive to the hospital, and I was stuck with Josh. Part of me just wanted to forgive him and accept his apology as it would be a lot easier for Matt and the rest of the guys but he never told me why, and I wasn't ready to forgive him if he didn't have a good reason. "You look really lovely tonight by the way, I'm sorry you couldn't go to that party.." Josh decided to break the silence. "Thank you, and it's fine, Matt comes before a stupid party." I decided to be civil, but I was spending an hour and a half with him in car, i had time to get him to tell me everything as to why he was so horrible this past week. We sat in silence again for at least ten minutes before breaking the silence myself this time. "Josh?"
"Yes?" He answered swiftly.
"I just, I just want to know why. Please, tell me why you acted towards me the way you did, why you didn't want us becoming friends?" I pleaded. He sigh and was thinking about what to say. "I guess it's unfair of me not to explain, but please Alexa, some of this is stuff I haven't told anyone before." I nodded for him to continue. "I dated this girl a while back, I honestly thought she was the love of my life, sounds cringey huh? Well I did, and anyway, I found out that she was sleeping with other guys while she was with me and that broke my heart, but I stayed with her. Why? Because she told me she wouldn't do it again and I believed her, eventually I did leave and it was so hard for me at the time, since then I've been scared to get close to anyone who could make me feel like that, and when you walked into the class, well you looked absolutely beautiful and when you asked to sit next to me I panicked. When you were in music with the guys I overheard you talking to Chris and you were so interesting and I wanted more than anything to talk to you but I was afraid. I'm not saying all girls are the same but it took a lot to realise that I didn't love that girl and it was all just a silly school relationship. I just don't want to get hurt again and that's why I pushed you away. Whether it be a friendship, relationship or just classmates." He admitted, almost tearing up during his explanation. "Josh I'm sorry," I started before I was interrupted. "Why are you apologising? You didn't know, and anyway, that's no excuse for how I treated you." He said and I changed the subject. "So Dan tells me you guys are in a band? That's pretty cool," I spoke quietly still taking in what I was told moments before. "Yeah, we're called you me at six and we've even done a few tours and it's been great." Josh's mood automatically changed, he was now happy, like he'd just got amazing news. "I'll have to come see you guys play sometime." I smiled back and he grinned. "Well we have practise at Max's tomorrow depending on how Matt is, you should come by."
"Id love to."
Okay so I hadn't exactly 'forgiven' Josh but I could see that he is a genuinely nice guy, people deserve second chances right? And the other guys were so great, if Josh was apart of their group then he must've been great too, after you get to know him anyway.
