"i pull you in to feel your heartbeat,
can you hear me screaming
please don't leave me."

As the cannon boomed Aurelia's heart broke, but as she linked eyes with her brother she knew she couldn't give up now. Something inside of her switched as she turned off her emotions and reminded herself what she came here to do. She felt awful for the small girl who's limp body she was still holding onto, however she had to die at some point if Atlas was going to win, and Aurelia had to accept that she couldn't save everyone, sacrifices were going to have to be made, including sacrificing her own life.

The pair of siblings delicately laid Isla onto her back, crossing her arms over each other and placing a flower from the meadow in between them. Aurelia brushed out the girls golden locks and intricately placed her hair beside her shoulders before dotting small daisies around it.

As she looked down at her for one last time, Aurelia admired her heavy lashes and plump lips which made her look like a doll, and the way her hair glistened against the moonlight like threads
of pure gold. Despite the coldness off her body, her cheeks still held the same rosy tint, sun kissed with freckles. She truly was beautiful, inside and out, and it pained Aurelia to see the fate of a girl so innocent and undeserving.

Atlas looped a comforting arm around her shoulders. With one last glance, a heavy tear rolled down her cheek as she turned away and set off back into the depths of the forest.

Another day had passed. Seven tributes remained. Including Hero from one, Terra from two, the male tributes from three and four, the girl from seven, and Avery and Atlas. Soon enough it would be the finale and seven tributes would amount to only one.

They decided to stay in the woods, figuring it provided them the most safety due to the concealment of the trees. The past 24 hours had been fairly peaceful, the siblings had even received a parachute from a sponsor containing a serving of warm home made soup and freshly baked bread from district nine. Every night they would now sleep up in the trees, incase the game makers decided to pull another trick like the hounds.

And Aurelia was right, the game makers had been plotting, however this time it wasn't hounds. "Attention Tributes, Attention." Claudius Templesmith's voice rung out through the arena, instantly catching the siblings attention and stopping them in their tracks. "Commencing at the sound of a cannon fire, you will have exactly 10 minutes to get to the cornucopia. Anyone who doesn't make it, will pay the price with their lives." Shock was evident on both of their faces. "This will be the only announcement."
