Chapter 3 - Rin's Out Of The Bag

-- Kaika's P.O.V. --

I search the entire house twice before I notice a slight breeze coming from the living room. I pinch the bridge of my nose. I hope it's not what I think it is. I walk over to the door and just as I feared, the front door is cracked open... I let out a long sigh. Why is this thing causing me so much trouble already?

I walk out of the door and immediately see Rin leaning against the porch railing of Emiko's house.

"Rin! What do you think you're doing?" I say through gritted teeth towards him.

He just smirks, "I'm waiting for that friend of yours. I saw here earlier leaving this house so I'm assuming it's hers."

This is exactly why I stick to my same routine. "She can't see you, just get back in here." I tell him pointing inside my own house.

He shakes his head at me, "Sorry, can't do it."

I get irritated, "What do you mean you can't? I order you to get inside my house before someone sees you!"

All of a sudden his expression changes. Instead of looking relaxed and smug, he looks conflicted and he starts walking towards me hesitantly. It looks almost as if he's trying to resist something. Is he okay?

"Why are you staring at me?" I hear Rin say.

Not realizing I had zoned out, I blushed darkly, "I-I wasn't! J-just shut up and stay in the house.

Finally he goes inside the house, though he doesn't look too thrilled about it, and just in time because I see Emiko walking towards this way. She smiles and waves frantically at me and I return the gestures, closing the front door behind me.

-- Third Person P.O.V. --

Emiko walks up to Kaika: "Hey Kaika, are you all done cleaning?"

Kaika hesitates and then shakes her head: "No, I uh, haven't."

Emiko crosses her arms and pouts: "Oh come on, I wanted to hang out with you today."

Kaika glances to her house for a moment before looking back at Emiko but doesn't say anything.

Emiko looks at her stubbornly: "Come on, I'm sure it's not that bad, it's only you living there. Besides, I could help you clean" She tilts her head in a closed eye smile.

Feeling a bit guilty, Kaika finally gives in: "Okay, just give me one minute okay?"

Emiko smiles triumphantly and nods as Kaika opens her door slightly, just enough to slip inside. She looks around. Spotting Rin sitting on the couch she walks over to him.

Kaika: "You have to go upstairs, and stay inside the study."

Rin: "Wait, why? I'm not some kind of animal." He looks towards the door and smiles cockily, "Is that hot looking friend of yours coming to visit?"

Kaika shakes her head: "She can't see you, do you understand me."

Rin: "Well, IIIIIIII want to play with her." He says, dragging out the "I".

Kaika hates telling people what to do but she realizes she has no choice: "I-I... I ORDER you to go to the study, and not come out until I say so." She quickly covers her mouth and turns red, a bit embarrassed that she burst like that.

Rin grits his teeth in frustration but does as he is ordered to. Kaika makes the house a little messy so Emiko doesn't catch on to her, and when she hears the door to the study close, she goes and lets Emiko in.

Emiko looks around and smiles shaking her head as she turned her attention to Kaika with a slight look of disbelief: "Kaika, it's really not that bad."

Kaika smiles: "I guess not, huh. Well, thanks anyways for offering to help."

Emiko flicks her wrist: "Don't worry about it, what are friends for?"

The two girls begin cleaning the house, and after a while of doing so, they're almost done. While Kaika starts making them something to eat, Emiko finishes wiping down the table when a loud 'thud' comes from upstairs. Kaika, her back turned to Emiko closes her eyes: Please don't let Emiko have heard that.

Emiko: "What was that?"

Kaika pretends she didn't hear anything: "Huh? What was what?"

Emiko: "It sounded like a noise came from upstairs."

Kaika: "I... didn't hear anything, maybe you're mistaken."

Emiko shrugs it off and continues wiping the table when there's another 'thud'. She looks up: "There it is again."

Kaika: "I-It's probably nothing."

Emiko smiles reassuringly: "There's no reason to be nervous, don't worry, I'll check it out."

She puts down the rag she was cleaning the table with and heads for the staircase. She goes upstairs and starts checking the rooms. When Kaika's room and the spare room turn up empty she heads towards the study. She's about to reach for the door knob when the doorbell rings. Kaika thinking fast yells up to her.

Kaika: "Emiko, I'm cooking could you please get the door."

"Sure, I got it.", she calls back.

Emiko lowers her hand and turns back towards the stairs. She makes her way to the door and opens it to find a large crate identical to the first one. Just like the first time, a guy wearing sunglasses wheels the crate into the living room.

Emiko: "One minute, I'll get the person who lives here." With that, she turns to get Kaika.

Emiko pokes her head into the kitchen: "Kaika, you got a delivery."

Kaika: "Huh?"

Please don't let it be what I think it is. She thinks to herself as she follows Emiko into the living room.

Emiko: "What the- There was a guy just here, he had sunglasses and he wheeled this inside for you."

Kaika just stares at the crate. This can't be happening again.

Emiko shrugs and closes the front door then looks back at Kaika.

Emiko: "Hey, what did you order? This crate looks pretty big."

Before Kaika can open her mouth a noise comes from inside the crate, as if someone is trying to get out.

Emiko looks really surprised: "What was that?? Is there a person inside there?!"

???: "Hey could you do me a favor? Stop chitchatting and being useless and get me the hell out of here would you?"

Emiko looks both shocked and confused, not sure what to do she reaches for the front of the crate. Kaika, who was frozen from disbelief shakes and grabs Emiko's hand.

Kaika: "Do not open that."

Emiko raises her eyebrow at her: "Why not?"

Kaika sighs: "I know exactly what is in there and I do not want it out here."

Emiko moves away from it still confused. She opens her mouth about to say something when the front plank of the crate comes flying off and hits the floor loudly. Out walks the source of the voice, it's another one of those humanized robots, only this time it's Sebastian Michaelis. He dusts off his outfit then looks up at Kaika.

Sebastian: "You must be Kaika, the person I was sent to. You don't look like anything special, and boy are you useless."

At the same time, Rin comes running down the stairs.

Rin: "No fair! I'm locked upstairs while he gets to be down here with that hot friend of yours." He walks over to Emiko and puts his hand underneath her chin in a flirty way.

Emiko gets dizzy trying to take this all in. These people... they're.. not real... What is... going on? She gets lightheaded and it seems as though the room is spinning until everything goes dark.
