TYGRON

In the orphanage, Kingston and I have finally built a nice friendship where we always get together most of the time. Cathera, he and I eat together most of the time.

One afternoon, the three of us were hanging out by the outdoor staircase near the orphanage altar. Cathera was reading books while Kingston was talking. It felt strange because we were having a random conversation while Cathera was reading the bible near us, mostly studying it.

"Maybe you should read it alone at the altar, Cathera. You don't need to read it near us," Kingston suggested, disinterested.

"I don't know most of these things yet. Like Selah. What is Selah?" She asked as she looked up to Kingston and me on the upper stairs.

"We're not the one you should ask. Maybe ask the headmistress," I replied to her jokingly.

"Whatever," Cathera sneered, continuing to read, mostly feeling offended by it.

"Wait... do you know what the orphanage lady said, Tygron?" Kingston asked.

"Said what?" I asked.

"The Hunter Association will visit for joiners that are the age of fifteen in this orphanage. Are you going to apply?"

"Hunters? Are you applying?"

"Of course I will. I always wanted for it to arrive."

"Maybe I will too."

"Children! Visitors!" called the orphanage lady at the back door, looking at us. Kingston and I looked at each other, figuring out what that meant for the two of us.

Kingston and I then ran towards the orphanage lady, following her as she left and went to the main foyer of the orphanage. Cathera remained focused on reading, ignoring us as we left.

After the listing and the orientation, we both returned to Cathera.

"That was quick. How was it?" she asked us.

"We'll be going to training tomorrow. I can't believe I'm going to be a hunter," Kingston said while Cathera remained smiling as a way to congratulate us.

"Oh, good. For both of you," she commented, disinterested as she returned to the read on the book. Kingston and I stared at each other, excited for the next day.

"Welcome to training, everyone. Aspirers on becoming hunters. This is just the first day here out of twelve. If you are not going to give it your all on the first, better come back home on another," oriented the man standing on a pedestal in front of us all. All the candidates surrounded him as he delivered his speech, observing him as Kingston and I were among them, on the training grounds of the following day.

We spent a two-week training there and it was straining for us considering you have to run, roll, climb and crawl through parkours and dirty tracks with the leaders yelling either to backhandedly compliment or scold you. Kingston and I are always tailing each other on every track we take and it felt fun even if were struggling because of that.

"Why are you being slow?! Faster! Don't you wanna' become hunters?!" sang the chief to all of us crawling on a muddy track with a beam of wood placed right above our heads that would bump our heads if we tried to raise ourselves. I was careful, closing my eyes as I rolled on the mud and murky water, avoiding the disgusting water to get in my eyes and mouth.
