Second Chance

The plane landed unceremoniously.

Sunghoon thought of how the past year went by so fast as he was on his way back home.
Sunghoon agreed to try it for a year just to appease his parents but as soon as he became of legal age, he told his parents that it didn't work for him and that he'll go back to the Philippines. His parents were a bit apprehensive but they understood and respected their only child's decision and they let him.

It was an uneventful and boring year for Sunghoon. He missed the Philippines, he missed his friends, he missed Sunoo.

Especially Sunoo.

He tried a lot of times to reach out to him but his guilt held him back. So he would just ask about Sunoo whenever he talked to Jay or Jake. The two told him how Sunoo got hurt when he left and what he did wasn't cool and Sunghoon knew it was his biggest regret so far.

He was a coward. He was selfish.

But not anymore.

He promised to himself that he'll make thing right.

No matter what.

It was the middle of semester break when Sunghoon went to his old school.
Nostalgia came rushing in and he felt nervous, excited and happy. He felt he's home.

After he processed his enrollment, he went around the campus to reminisce.
He sat on his and Sunoo's favorite bench. Went to the cafeteria and bought tacos and lychee milk shake and ate on their fave spot.
He walked the familiar hallways. Went to the library and thought it was closed so he just held on the door feeling hopeful. 

Hopeful that he'll have another chance.

As he was sitting on the bleachers, he thought of calling Jake but he didn't pick up so he tried Jay who answered on the second ring.

"Hello?" Jay said, curious and cautious since it's an unfamiliar number.

"Save this. New number." Sunghoon answered.

"Hoon???"

"Yep."

"Wait... teka...."

"Sino yan? Si Sunghoon?" Jungwon said in the background.

"Huh? Yep... shhhh... wait lang luv, long distance to." 

"Haha... Mukhang galit pa rin yung 'luv' mo sakin ahh." Sunghoon smiled.

"Oo, teka..." Jay said as he moved away from Jungwon and whispered, "Local number to ahh. Bumalik ka na?"

"Yep. Kahapon lang. Katatapos ko lang din mag'enroll ngayon."

"Wait! Totoo!!! Bumalik ka na talaga?!"

"Oo nga... hahha... San ka ba? San ba kayo now?" Sunghoon inquired.

"Andito pa kami sa Baguio..."

"Ahhh vacation? Kayo lang ni Jungwon?"

"N-no... kasama namin si Sunoo..."

"Oh.. okay."

"...and Ni-ki."

"Oh."

"Yeah, ummmm.... we stayed sa house nila Ni-ki."

"Hmmmm... okay.. Have fun then. See you when you get back?"

"Sige, sige... dami kong kwento sayo."

"Hahah... iba pa ba yan sa mga na-kwento mo na?"

"Oo..."

"About Sunoo and Ni-ki ba?" Sunghoon tried to smile as he said their names.

"Hindi, gagi... hindi naman-"

"Di pa ba tapos yan?! Pabulong-bulong ka pa dyan ahh!" Jungwon snarled at Jay.

"Teka lang luv..." Jay pouted.

"Hahah! Oh sya... pag-uwi nyo na lang. Baka mapagalitan ka pa lalo ng luv mo."

"Basta haaa... punta ko sa inyo pagbalik na pagbalik namin dyan sa Manila."

"Sige, sige.. ingat. See yah."

Sunghoon disconnected and thought if he's already too late.

He sighed and decided to go home.

"Ano pinag-usapan nyo?" Jungwon asked Jay as soon as he disconnected from the call.

"Huh? Wala... nangangamusta lang." Jay smiled.

"Oh eh bakit lumayo ka pa at may pabulong-bulong pa?"

"Hindi, mahina lang signal."

"Spy ka ba nya? Kinukwento mo ba si Sunoo dun???" 

"Luh... hindi ahhh."

"Naku, Jay umayos ka ahhh. Ayus-ayusin mo yung mga desisyon mo sa buhay... naku..."

"Baliw to... haha." Jay nervously laughed.

Jungwon looked back at Sunoo and Ni-ki who were having a serious talk. He smiled and thought that the two are getting along so well.
He wanted the best for Sunoo and he knows that it's Ni-ki. Even after how many times the two denied, he thought that they're perfect for each other.
