Fire and Ice

The book drive was surprisingly exhausting yet fulfilling and the volunteers decided to take a break for some snacks.
Sunoo and Sunghoon started distributing bottled juice drinks, burgers and butterscotch in the bus.

"Okay na po ba lahat?" Sunoo asked out loud. After everyone confirmed, Sunoo went back to his seat where Sunghoon was already seated. Sunghoon stood up to make way for him.

When they're both seated, Sunoo noticed that Sunghoon was busy fanning himself with a torn out piece of a cardboard box, not eating.
He ignored him and started unwrapping his burger and saw that Sunghoon was just going over his phone while still fanning himself.

"Lakasan mo yung aircon kung naiinitan ka." Sunoo snapped at Sunghoon.

"Ay hindi, okay na ko, presko na." Sunghoon smiled.

"K." Sunoo simply said and was about to take a bite. He again noticed how Sunghoon was just looking at his phone, "Asan snacks mo? Bakit di ka pa kumakain? Di mo bet yung burger na inorder ko???"

"Huh? Ahhh... di, okay lang ako.." Sunghoon answered.

"Teka... wala ka ba?" Sunoo asked, eyebrows furrowed.

"Huh? Hindi..." Sunghoon denied, "Okay lang ako... swear..."

"Wait, kulang ba??" Sunoo asked, starting to panic.

"Ata... pero don't worry... okay lang ako..."

"Hindi, bilang ko to eh... sakto dapat to.."

"Ayos lang talaga..."

"Ay shoot, di ko nasama sa bilang si Kuya driver kaya kulang ng isang set. Binigyan mo sya?"

"Ahhhh... oo."

"Hala sorry... ako pa naman assigned dito... nubayan... ummmm..." Sunoo said apologetically.

"Haha, okay lang ako. Nukaba..."

"Ummm... s-share na lang tayo." Sunoo offered hesistantly.

"H-huh?" Sunghoon was shocked on Sunoo's sudden shift on his mood towards him.

"Kung magpapadeliver ulit baka matagalan pa. Share na lang tayo... okay lang sayo? Kalahati? Malaki naman to..."

"Hahah... kahit isang kagat lang, okay na ko..." Sunghoon replied, enjoying the moment.

"Hay naku... hati na tayo..."

"Painom muna pede? Medyo dehydrated na ata ako."

"Ay sige, wait." Sunoo grabbed the bottle absent-mindedly and gave it to Sunghoon. Sunghoon drank from it and then handed it back to Sunoo.

"Oh kagat ka... ang messy kapag hinati eh. Kagat ka na lang..." Sunoo told Sunghoon.

"Ohh.. okay." Sunghoon smiled. He looked straight at Sunoo as he bit from the burger. Sunoo awkwardly looked away and didn't see Sunghoon who smiled. Sunoo then took a bite after Sunghoon and slowly chewed.

"Pakagat ulit? Pede?" Sunghoon asked.

"S-sure..." Sunoo replied. As he was holding the burger, Sunghoon intentionally held his hand as he took another bite. 
This time both of them looked into each other's eyes aware that their hands touched. 
Time seemed to stand still and happy memories between them started rushing in.
A comfortable, warm and familiar feeling filled Sunoo's whole body as he was looking into Sunghoon's dark eyes, it's as if he already forgotten all the hurtful things that happened. It's as if everything has been forgiven.

"HOY!!! ANO YANG SUBUAN NG BURGER NA NAGAGANAP DYAN SA LIKOD???!!!!" Jungwon's shrill voice reverberated inside the bus. Sunoo panicked and forcefully nudged the burger into Sunghoon's mouth smearing mayonnaise, bread crumbs and bits of beef patty on Sunghoon's face.

"WALA!" Sunoo denied, "Wala syang burger! Nag-share lang ako!"

Sunghoon who got startled as well started wiping his cheeks looking like a guilty puppy. He saw Jay giving him a thumbs-up which Jungwon smacked.
He also saw Jake and Heeseung smiling like kids while Ni-ki was just looking at him expressionless.
He looked at Sunoo, who was poorly acting as if nothing happened, and then he just smiled.

"Pede painom? Nabilaukan ako eh." Sunghoon said. Sunoo threw the bottled juice on his lap without looking at him.

"Ayan, sayo na yan. Ubusin mo na. Saksak mo sa baga mo."

"Thank you..." Sunghoon winked. He couldn't help smiling as he drank the rest of the juice.

Sunoo just kept looking at the window away from Sunghoon. He also couldn't help himself from smiling.
