A widowed mother moves to a new city with her daughter in hopes for a new start after the death of her wife.
A single mother hopes to jump back onto the saddle and get herself out there after many years of not dating.
"New town, new people, this will be great. What do you think?"
When Megan didn't receive an answer from her daughter, she glanced over at her only to see that she had her headphones in with her head buried in her phone. Megan shook her head and tapped her, "Akira?"
"Huh?" She took out an earbud and looked up .
"What do you think?"
"Of what?"
"The town? Fresh air, out in the mountains. The scenery is breathtaking."
"I'd prefer to be in the city with my friends.. You know downtown? Where the scenery there is breathtaking?"
Megan sighed, feeling a bit defeated. It's been a bit of a ride for the two of them and getting her daughter settled into a new city, new school, and new friends is going to be tough. Akira has never been one to do well with adjustments so Megan knew it would be a challenge for her.
The two of them had the opportunity of moving to Charlotte, North Carolina for a bigger and better job opportunity. It was definitely a change from living in Chicago. A change that Akira wasn't the biggest fan of. Megan jumped at the opportunity when they offered it, she was ready to move on with her life. She was only holding on to their home in Chicago for the sake of her wife. Now that she was gone, she figured her and Akira needed something different.
"Look at this." Megan pulled into the driveway of their new home.
"This is our home?" Akira took out her headphones, amazed.

"Yep. Still missing Chicago?"
She cut her eyes at Megan, "let's not push it."
"Well go on and take a look." Megan handed her the house key.
She quickly took her seatbelt off and got out of the car, unlocking the front door and going inside. "HIGH CEILINGS!??" She stood in the doorway and yelled.
Megan laughed a little, shaking her head. She took a look around at the atmosphere of their new home, taking in the scenery. It was absolutely beautiful, something that wasn't typically seen in Chicago. Megan walked over into the house and although she had already seen it, she still took it all in and looked around in amazement.
"Is any room my room?" Akira asked.
"Any room except the big room."
"Man." She sucked her teeth and went back upstairs.
Megan took this moment to take in their new home. Things would be weird, different even, without her wife. It had only been 6 months since she passed away. Life has been a bit crazy for Megan since her wife isn't around anymore. For starters, her and Akira's relationship has gone downhill. Akira isn't biologically related to Megan, but once Megan and Beyoncé got married, she adopted Akira. She's practically raised her since she was 8 years old. However, now that Akira is older she isn't so welcoming towards Megan.
