Normani~
"6 hours later and I'm finally done." Normani smiled as she looked around Megan's home. Satisfied with her decorative skills and what she had done. "How does it look?"
"It looks great."
Normani turned her head to face Megan after her sentence came out as gibberish. Megan had her pen in her mouth, focused on her laptop screen with a bunch of papers in front of her. She knew Megan had a lot of work to do, which is why she allowed Normani to come over and do as she pleased with the house while she finished up her work. Normani just didn't know that it would be 6 hours worth of work. "Why don't you take a break?"
Megan sighed. "I can't. I have a meeting with a client tomorrow and she's determined to drain her husband dry of everything."
"Ha," Normani sat on the coffee table in front of Megan, "I understand that all too well."
"Yeah? Was the divorce with your husband bad?"
"Bad? Oh it was terrible. He fought me on everything except his child."
"You know he didn't seem like the best person when we ran into him at the party."
"He was great at first but overtime, people change in relationships."
"I get it... Kinda?"
"What were you and your wife like?"
"Honestly? I hate to say we were perfect because no relationship is, but it felt like we were. The entire time we were together, we never left the honeymoon stage and I think that's what I loved so much. She was such an effective communicator that nothing ever turned into an argument and compromising was a big thing in our relationship."
Normani smiled weakly, "it sounds like you had found your soulmate."
"I did... Which is why dating again is so hard for me because I know I'll never find that again. I'm willing to try, of course, but I know it won't happen twice."
To say Normani was feeling a bit discouraged now would be an understatement. She wanted to try things out with Megan eventually, but now it feels as though she's trying for something that will never be there. They've both come to terms with being friends, but true feelings never die and Normani knows the more time they spend with each other, the more she'll start to fall for the woman. "Well... It's almost 7."
"Is it really?" Megan looked at the time on her laptop, "Time really got away from me today. I should go pick something up for Akira."
"She's actually over at my house with Chance. They ordered in."
"Oh that's right. Are they getting ready for the party?"
"Chance can't go so they're staying home together. Akira said she didn't want to go without her."
"Is she upset still? Why can't she go?"
"I really didn't want her to. She doesn't have the best track record with the kids in her school and I'm just a bit worried to let her go into that type of setting again."
"Oh I get that, hopefully she does as well."
"You and me both."
"What are you doing tonight?"
"Didn't plan on doing anything. Maybe just catch a movie, why?"
Megan looked back at her laptop and over at Normani, "Jodie's coming over tonight with a couple of friends. We were just gonna sit around, drink, talk... I want you to join."
"J-Jodie from the party?" Normani was a bit taken back. She never expected Megan to invite her to hang out with her current... Fling? What was she supposed to call them? The woman she had semi-feelings for just invited her to sit in her face all night while she flirts and laugh with another woman. "Uh, sure."
